I think the problem was the advertising of the game. Prototype 1 had made Alex the hero while the trailers for Prototype 2 made Alex the villain and you're supposed to kill him. The first 5 minutes of the game shows an entirely different story. I think their mistake was trying to sell it like that. The game mechanics feel better but the gameplay takes some getting accustomed to. Had they found some other way to market the game it would have sold IMO. Unless at some point in the game you end up killing Alex - but that should have been left to see and not brought out at the start.......meh. And such was a good company.
