Go on Jobsites and see what technical skills employers are seeking but in the end have drive and passion for what you do!! I think there is already a few post on this site regarding career paths.

The best route to being competitive is having solid experience in the field of interest. The starting job opportunities may not pay well in the short-run, but if they provide the experience that's needed, they will pay off in the long-run.
