Galaxy Ace

Can get a brand new Galaxy Ace for $16,000 from Goldmart (or $17k +tax from digicel ), is it worth it?
The only real drawback is the Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread with no news on updates to newer OS versions. and the camera recording is VGA (not that important)

Is there a way to upgrade the OS to ICS?
Anybody have this phone or know how good it is?
Any better alternatives?

Have a BB Curve 8520 right now plan fi sell it for $12k and upgrade to this.

None is stock, just my bad luck.
Might go for the Galaxy Ace 2 ($27,000). Plus it will get droid 4.1 (JB)
