Good one. Don't think there're many here buying s/w though, no matter how much of a deal it might be. After all, we're techies, and if we can't get it as FOSS, there are other means... Just saying.......

    lol well that's true...

sometimes there are some good deals which makes buying it a lot easier that those other means... Just snagged a 3 user 1 license version of Kaspersky Internet Security for $28.95 /2 vs ~$65 + from Kaspersky themselves or other retailers...

When I find good software deals for software I use, I tend to buy them.. example Office 2010 Pro snagged a copy of it for $10 ...

Most of the other software i use come from Microsoft which I get thru MSDNAA or via vendors who sell software heavily discounted to students..

Next on my list MIGHT be Adobe Master Collection CS6 ($611 vs 2,599.99 +tax is rather appetizing). not really high on my list though

That's still a lot of $$$... But then again, you're one of the lucky few who have a great job and pay, giving you the means to spend big too. I'm sure i could find some FOSS alternative combo that does the same job.

Not really that my job (rather internship/part-time) gives me the means to spend big... i fix PCs and work with my dad on the side + not a frequent spender and save a lot which gives me the opportunity to buy stuff.
Learning to budget is a hell of a thing, but great when you master it. You will be surprised at the end of the day what you can afford. Yea still a lot of cash hence y i said MIGHT and that its not really high on my list.

I just make sure all my bills are paid on-time and that i put away some cash every pay check as well as take care of any responsibilities, then whatever I have left goes into a spending fund that tends to sit for very longtime before being touched.

There are many alternatives out there... GIMP is a nice one that i use. So no rush to drop that amount of cash on CS6 anytime soon or at all lol... that is 3 car payments lol or a computer or rather my rent lol
