This clearly opens the doors for competition in the supply of power to the Jamaican public. The High Court has ruled that the Jamaica Public Service exclusive all-island licence is not completely valid.
The court ruled that the aspect of the licence, which bars the Government from considering other applicants who want to supply electricity, is not valid.
The ruling has opened the way for other players in the energy industry to make an application to supply electricity.

But it will allow more companies to supply alternate energy - open up the market and maybe - just maybe - we can sell back power to the JPS grid.
We never know too much that we can't learn. Unfortunately most Jamaicans are about "hurry come up" and swatting than actually learning....
its already possible to sell power back to jps, $18 and change/KW or something like that.
from what mi hear jps want u to sell them for cheap and then when u want fi use there power they want to charge u the normal price ..

this is very good bcos as it is, if i have a big generating system it was illegal for me to sell my neighbor...... so the private companies can sell to who ever they want, they can run power lines etc...........
Back to square one....., back off the ground now........
wind turbines and solar panels people been trying to say this a a long time and a gridtie inverter pushes back current in to jps grid and spin analog meter backwards
I AM NOT TECHNOLOGICALLY DUNCE AND WOULD BE A FOOL TO TRY AND CONVINCE AN IDIOT
INSTEAD OF BUYING MORE USELESS GADGETS, BUY SOLAR PANELS
Time for renewable energy to be the viable alternative.
