    Default Laptop battery Not Charging

I've noticed that the battery charge indicator has been blinking for a while now, but didn't really take stock. Now I've found that my battery isn't charging anymore (disconnected the charger twice, and each time I reconnected it, it would say it's plugged in and not charging). Now my battery is at 75% and will only go down. SIW (Sys. Info. 4 Win.) says my battery is healthy.

This is a high capacity battery, and I had another regular one to which I think the same thing happened. Is my laptop killing the batteries (I decided to always keep the battery in) or something? Cuz I doubt the same thing happening to both batteries is a simple coincidence. And I doubt it's heat since I've been using a cooling pad for a good while now. Maybe I'll try to get the battery charged with something else somehow...

My laptop has gone on the Fritz again . This time the adapter isn't charging at all. The AC connection light goes on if the battery is removed but doesn't provide power. If the battery is present, the connection light stays of, but blinks twice every now and then, and on the second blink the battery indicator blinks once too.

Is it the laptop in your sig? Also - use a meter and check your adapter to ensure you're getting the correct voltage out of it. You could also go into the BIOS of some laptops and it will tell if the charger is plugged in and working or not. It could just be that your batteries are not good. Maybe you didn't properly exercise the battery before using it?

Yes, that's the one. Had it for 9 months now. Had a similar issue about a month ago that I fixed by taking out and putting the battery back. The battery is fine. The adapter should be fine too. But there's something wrong inside the laptop. Maybe knocked out by all this heat, though I have it on a cooling pad...

Seems the problem was the adapter after all. Took it to a store to be repaired (the horror!) and the battery charged when they used a universal adapter. (They wanted to charge $75 for ordering a replacement adapter, but I thought no way) Tried the adapter at home again to see if it'd magically work, and found that the media touch keys actually flashed for a second if I hit the power button every few seconds. So apparently it's giving power, just not enough to run or charge. I'm already searching for a suitable universal adapter on eBay (all under $20)...

Good to know you found it out. Would have been easier if you had a multimeter to check it. Also - some of the laptops allow you to see the adapter type and whatnot if you go into the BIOS and go to BATTERY. Anyways - glad you got it figured. Now just for the resolution.

Yeah. I'm looking to buy a universal charger on eBay (I prefer generic stuff), but I want to be certain that esp the connection fits. I think this is the right adapter for it.

Ensure that the ratings are correct for charging the laptop/battery. If you're using something with wrong ratings you'll mess up your battery cycles and reduce the life. Also you could get an original charger for about the same price. And believe it or not you could also check Amazon for the same thing. Sometimes they're cheaper. Sometimes they're not. Sometimes the price difference is somewhat negligible for the peace of mind knowing you're getting it from Amazon - if the seller on eBay has low ratings or such.

Thanks for the rating tip. Did some checking and I'm wondering if I should worry about the polarity. The seller has really good ratings and has already helped me to find a replacement, but it's not universal. I want something usable on other machines. And I have quite a few eBay Bucks to use so price isn't an issue.

Get one of those auto-sensing adapters then.

Something like that. Bear in mind that a lot of persons say the auto-sensing ones are not the best to use - better to get a fixed one. But if that's what you want then you could get one like that in the link.
