Since you have a playbook, why not do some experiment to see how easy it is to do drawing on it among other things. I guess you havent yet done much experimenting to see what this device is capable of.

I saw the playbook on bestbuy just now for 199usd.....http://www.bestbuy.com/site/BlackBer...book&cp=1&lp=1

Am I to believe it is still at 400? If I were able to spend that amount, I'll go with the Asus Transformer instead. A friend of mine even told me the Playbook start at 160 pounds in the UK. So at 200US in the USA, sound just right. And its not a refurbish.

I was also told with the Kindle, since it uses Android, a person can format it and run a different Android to install many Android applications available.
I'm saying originally when released it cost $400 but rim dropped the price to get rid of stock. I just got mine easter gone and like you I was wondering what tablet to buy, transformer would prolly still be my choice but I had the money issue as well and then I heard about the os upgrade and added capabilities plus price drop and rest is history. For the drawing is it word you're interested in doing it in?

Max, give us some a di ramifications of ICS nuh, jus a quick run down.

    I am a little late here.. I have a:

HP touchpad running ICS (Cyanogen 9)
    Kindle Fire
    ASUS TF300

The touchpad is ok, a bit heavy but ICS is still alpha and the HP WebOS is crap. My kids use it now, it would not recommend.

Kindle Fire, I got one for my wife. I really like it, but I cannot get past the fact that you cannot expand the storage, no camera, it only has 8GB internal storage (free cloud storage for all Amazon's content), and Amazon's app store is limited. You can get one for Amazon Warehouse for ~ $160 US (refurb) but it has the same warranty and support. I think the Nook might be a better choice.

Asus TF300 ($389) A little out of your range but I love it. In fact I also bought the dock ($140) because it is that good . The screen is bright and sharp (despite the people complaining the it is not an IPS+ display) and it is built well IMO. I am able to connect to my network and stream 720p / 1080p video and it has a micro HDMI out jack which allow me to plug it into a TV. I have been getting ~ 8 -10 hours of battery life, depending on usage. The dock will add an additional 6 hours. All ASUS included apps can be uninstalled and the ICS is basically a stock version (ASUS recently release the source). You can look up the tech specs, but it has definitely exceeded my expectations.

Cool. How many apps are available for the Playbook? Where would I get them from? Blackberry site?

ICS means Ice Cream Sandwich which is basically Android 4...

The kindle is only limited to who is limited... with cyanogen 7 you have access to the world... create your own dam cloud... and use the file explorer to access things in that cloud...

Not into drawing, but just the question of what if the teacher draws something. Apart from that, I am good. Thanks for the suggestion though.

It seems like the BlackBerry 4G PlayBook HSPA+ is likely to fit what you are asking regards to sim card, etc. All tablet are wifi compatible.
