Ubuntu 12.04 LTS now Final and ready for download!!

today i installed it to my girlfriends' machine tried sudo apt-get install gnome-shell and got a message saying it was no longer supported or deprecated from the apt-sources

sudo apt-get update 
sudo apt-get upgrade

try this before you install gnome. I did install gnome but it didnt look as good as unity

that was posted almost a year ago and i dont see anyone on the net having any luck with it for ubuntu 12. have you tried it?

I haven't because I don't use Unity. However, if it doesn't work you could probably just hide it and use AWN or Docky.

thanks i got it to work only problem now is that i really was leaning towards gnome 2...i hate both unity and gnome 3 might as well go back to xfce or kde

Log out and select Gnome Classic before logging in.

Ok I upgraded pretty much trouble free here. Dunno why AA so salt lol.
