there are people who suffer a placebo effect ... once they purchased the latest upgraded spec device no matter how small ... they immediately see a disproportionately large positive performance and value difference.

Ok used a new Ipad and my Ipad 2 this weekend extensively and I am sorry as much as the screen is hyped, at a glance, it really isn't that noticeable side by side much less by itself. I would now most definitely say no to an upgrade from an Ipad 2. As for 4g versus 3g this is only as good as 4g availability is which again is more hype than reality due to limited availability in many many areas. After using the New Ipad I can honestly say that only a sucker would upgrade from an Ipad 2 at this time. Some can justify this upgrade claiming retna Screen this 5mega pixel camera that but unless you view your screen only through a microscope or really... really have a need for a 5mega pixel camera with no flash on a tablet then I think it wise to simply pass on this upgrade. Still don't understand why some need to upgrade with every new model released, more so when only minor improvements are made. Can't wait to see all those who will once again upgrade from new ipad to the even newer ipad in 11 months.
That said looking for a sucker to buy my Ipad 2 3g 64gb so I can upgrade 4 free when next I travel.

Those who do not understand UNIX are doomed to reinvent it poorly.

If you have never owned an iPad, and want to get one, buy the iPad 3. If you have an iPad 2, skip the 3 as an upgrade.
Ps. The need to come out with an anti-glare version of the iPad as they do with the MacBook pro.

I'm not even going down with IOS 6. Been running the beta version and not impressed. The minor tweaks and not exactly mind blowing in my opinion.
Not to mention the rollout of the new iPad mini later on this year for all those who bought the new iPad will be considering the iPad mini when it hits the stores.

Saying that software upgrade is free when you are forced to buy a whole new piece of hardware to get it is like saying the food in the party is free when the ticket cost 10gs. lol.
All this talk about weather the upgrade cost is worth it got me thinking. what about the cost of downgrading? what does buying a ipad 1 cost used?

Ok got an iPad1 and honestly can't see the need for upgrading it does everything the new ones do except for the camera and I don't do much videocalling or take many pics on a device so large, in my opinion it isn't worth the upgrade especially from 2 to 3. These marginally upgraded products are just really hyped don't be fooled by the specs, a device isn't its specs only real life usage and performance are what counts and for me the original ipad ain't outta the race yet.
