Hello everyone, we in the SlashRoots community have a new website( http://slashroots.org ) and a wicked new conference coming up at the end of the month (Jan 27-28)! We have brought back the same energy, determination and collaboration that we used to launch the inaugural SlashRoots/DEV Conference in 2011. To build upon the momentum and energy of our first event and fulfill our mission of being a truly regional community we are taking SlashRoots regional.
The next SlashRoots/DEV will be occurring simultaneously across the Caribbean islands of Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Trinidad and Tobago. To make this happen, we are again partnering with the Center of Excellence at the Mona School of Business(Jamaica) and the International Development Research Center of Canada, as well as new partners Ciudadano Inteligente(Chile), Fundacion Taiguey (Dom Rep) and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UWI (Trinidad). The event will be branded the SlashRoots/DEV Caribbean Open Data Conference with the theme “Developing The Caribbean”. We have some pretty cool sponsors behind the event, which we will be announcing soon. Think Silicon Valley meets Caribbean Culture!
For more information on the conference, which will be held at the New Faculty of Law Building at UWI please visit http://slashroots.org
