Has anyone here gotten into home automation/smart homes, Im interested in it particularly in the electronic doorlocks that use a code to unlock the deadbolt or a card system, IP wireless security cameras, and what really got my interest automated lights which you can set the light to use percentages, so like 80% or lower and that can really reduce the light bill.

Im looking for a starter kit that is reasonably priced, was checking out ebay but some of those were generic looking and im not sure about them can anyone offer any guidance

I called the dealer in Kgn for control4

Basically
$1000 for the control system/server
$350-$400 for electronic deadbolt locks
$300-$1000 for a camera system
and he didnt quote me on the cost of the light dimmers

He said for me I would be looking at $3000-$3500 to get the stuff and have them installed

Yes I didnt think I had to state that the figures were in USD, so becuz of that high cost im looking for something more cost effective
