The compression rate is actually 2.5:1 so you get 2.5x more usage if its text based web pages that the server strips down; and that is a negligible price for us android users to pay since you BB are stuck with horrible content as a reward for your compression. The moment you decide to run media (video, music) its 1:1 you get no more data usage than an android and you have to watch it on those low res, mediocre, tiny screens BB gives to you all.

RIM's servers makes the internet delivered 2.5 times crappier and it takes 2.5 time longer to get to your phone.
medicre screen... a 9810 or 9850/60 is just as good as any android screen

and you can turn off data compression

furthermore your using a decent model android(galaxy2).... but what about people who have the crappy mytouch4g.... im using a crappy motorola charm that has one of the worse screens ive seen on a phone

bb screens are garbage and no a 9810 or 9880 cant even come near to the mytouch 4g super lcd.

Go do your research before you talk

Edit: Here is a video of my Mytouch 4G. tell me what is crappy about it.

the problem most of here on techj have with bb users is that, you bb users refuse to embrace change.
It is not such a great problem if it were only limited to personal prefference, but it does point to why we as a society take so long to get anywhere useful.

this might turn into a bit of a rant.

Y is it that in this day and age ppl who consider themselves technically superior to the average jamaican still cling to a dying technology that is being in most cases, more expensive that the current / future mobile tech? to make matters worse they constantly try to find reasons to justify the relevevance of their device as they are blinded by brand loyalty, (just like digi and u know who).

there are those here that have seen that there is no leading edge to having a bb as its one major selling point has been overhauled by a myriad of other devices renders the devices almost obsolete.

It is sad that the majority of jamaicans also share their views, they would rather overpay for substandard service while better options remain underused. Then they come bawling how they cant afford this or that. We need to embrace change to maximize our output...maximizing outputwill result in greater earning potential leading to a better way of life.

that this discussion has continued this long shows how slowly the process of effecting change on this island is , it shows through all levels of society and this is just another painful excercise that has to be endured. To those who have seen the light ... "Cheers"

to those who are comfortable with what they have or until the next useless version is presented ....good luck

A 9810 or 9850/60 screen is only comparable to the androids of 2010, they are top end blackberries don't? Aren't they the cream of RIM's crop right now then its only fair they are compared with the cream of the android's crop to which they are mediocre in standard at every measurable on a phone. They share the same features with cream of the crop androids from 2009 and 2010 hence it was released outdated.

turning off data compression so what's better about a BB over any phone now; that was the closest you were to a valid point; if its someone that browses webpage only on there mobile. And they cannot burn 1 GB on an android browsing webpage only material in one month with the added benefit of richer content on a better screen. Even if they turned off data compression they still would have the mediocre screen to deal with.

I have come to the conclusion most of us here are not techies anybody can sign up for techJA it never instantly makes you a techie and will never instantly make you one either,..............majority of users are fanboys of all kinds who as you say don't embrace change. The day better is available and I can do better its definitely gonna be better I am only loyal to myself and I guess many fail to realize that they should be loyal to themselves too and not any one smartphone company.

IN everything you have dummy, basic and advance users as in cellphones there are two types of bb users the basic who just want the basic needs of cellphone to send text and for regular day to day activities like sending docs or visiting facebook. then
you have then you have the ones who just like the hype the bb brings or the ping.
advance cellphone users will look towards a iphone or android device because we know what their potentials are and a bb is like a lada againts these badboys.
I have given my phone to bb users to make a call or text and they dont know the first thing to do because they are not use to being around a REAL smart device lol. But they will catch on but not yet because they are brainwash by digicel who gives bb a lot of kraze in ja. But no where else in the world people
fuss over bb lol its either iphone or droids but you cant beat too much on the jamaican public to hard its just a phase they are going through like the flip phone phase lol a few years back
