some of sites in that list are located on non Jamaican servers which leads me to believe these are sites frequented by persons logging on from a Jamaican IP address as opposed to sites that are actually based in Jamaica
your site is based in Texas and that pill site is based in Romania

I went to alexa and found the most visited "Jamaican" sites
seems more accurate that the groupon list

'Jamaican' Website in this regards means sites that are developed in, and or targeted to Jamaica by meta, open graph or other tags. Alexa only shows stats from toolbar users, unless you have a premium listing which will show your direct traffic. Not many in Jamaica use the Alexa toolbar, still check our rank there as well and you will see it is not-bad to say the least (http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/claja.com), in time we may just opt for the premium.

Where a server is has nothing to do with where a site is based, it is only where the server is based. Contrary to popular opinion, YOUR ACTUAL OFFICE LOCATION where development is done, services offered, items sold etc. sets your 'base' location, a server can be anywhere... even on a cloud.

You have forced our hand, so to speak. Although our cpanel info is confidential, we decided to add a more dynamic stat to the site. Basically a count of all views of 'active' listings, it's pretty cool as it goes up and down by the minute. We also differentiate the Event views count from the rest of the listings. When listings expire, suspended or deleted the number drops and ... you get the idea. Check it out on the footer @ http://classifieds.claja.com/0-Jamaica/

Funny enough I was looking around for sites like these but they all seem to have been eaten by fb/twitter. Shopinja and jacars. Others either have too little participation or are spreading themselves too thin

Agreed. At this rate I'm not sure TechJamaica will remain online for much longer.

I agree, niche forums are taking a beating.

Fb's group selling options don't help the classifieds either but their approach is somewhat unrealistic as selling is spread thin over thousands of groups and not exactly searchable outside of fb... Claja is growing 5-7% month over, and from what I see; the competition isn't slowing either (ShopinJa, WePree, JaCars etc). Overall traffic (and search) is still growing here.

I see clarja post a link on shopinja to a section that has only one new post in a year. It's a tough sector.
