Is that the max resolution that the video card is reporting supported for the LCD monitor?

support 1080p is defferent from having 1080p as native resolution. I am in the same boat as you, my tv's recommended resolution is 1366x786 so technically 720p but when I watch a movie in 1080p I have no problem or when I use my PS3 it shows that I am in 1080p, I have tried changing the settings for my video card and all that happened was the tv got blurry and not a sharp as it normally is and having that 720p resolution and using it as monitor well if you change the resolution to 1920x1080 you gonna see the pixels

Questions : first .. Is your settings mirrored or extended ?
Secondly .. Whats the max resolution your main monitor supports ?..

Mirrored usually goes to the max resolution of the main monitor ..
Extended usually allows multiple/different resolutions for all monitors ..

I have a three monitor setup with all different resolutions ..

If you showing it on multiple monitors then it might also be the settings you use. If u put it on "clone" then the maximum settings available would be the those supported by the monitor. Try putting it on "extend" (or something like that depending on your software) and it should show 2 different resolutions on the 2 screens, leaving u able to play 1080p on the LCD.

The other question is if you're using hdmi to hdmi connection or DVI to hdmi. My personal recommendation would be to get a videocard with HDMI cause from experience its simple to connect. There are no settings to change u just plug it in and it automatically pops up and at the maximum resolution.

Exactly. Don't put it on duplicate cause the max resolution youll be able to show will be the resolution of your monitor, which im sure maxes out at 720. U need to change that setting to extended desktop and then change the resolution individually.
