besides the notification bar thingy are there any obvious changes?

like something that would be instantly noticed after using the device for a couple minutes

I've tried the Gold Master version on my iPad1, but I'm not benefiting from any of the new features.
I only wanted iCloud anyway, so I'll wait until it's open. In the interim, I'm checking out the refreshed interface.

Nope. This would be more beneficial to iPhone4(s) and iPad2(with 3G) users.
    I don't have Siri on my iPad1.

For starters i'm using an iPad2 however, most of the features should be standard on on any compatible device...

    6. Rotate Photos
    7. Red-eye removal
    8. I can now organize photos within Camera Roll
    9. Tabbed Browsing
    10. Safari Reader aka offline reading
    11. Swipe-Up with 4-5 fingers for multitasking bar iPad only based on what i've read
    12. Swipe-Left or Swipe-Right with 4-5 fingers to switch between running apps iPad
    13. New Split keyboard iPad only
    14. New Music App: Redesigned only for iPad
    15. Sync in background: don't have to wait until sync if finish to access the device

Ipad 2 running GM is just as good as running the official, i have been running ios5 via a developer account and i can say its adds some real meat to the Ipad. The gestures are mad!, imessage is a killer, the notification bar sleek, and browser is better.

In all, its worth the upgrade and buy!

Marketing propaganda, they probably changed 100 icons and call it an update. If these updates were something to talk about, they wouldn't be telling the world how they playing catch up with Android after all this time. I bet you are expecting surprises, like last week
