Lets talk about Custom ROMs

Finally upgraded from GB based Checkrom to AOS/AOKP based Slim ICS with Siyah Kernel. The latest build of Slim ICS offers phenomenal battery life, the stock launched sucks though, so I installed Apex launcher on it. Getting over 24 hours of standby time along with ICS goodness.

I do not know what the devs for Slim were thinking when they put that god awful launcher in their ROM

It is soooo counter intuitive it is sickening.

But the dev likes it... weird taste or maybe his friend codes it... but I understand they are trying to invent a new UI paradigm... but it sucks.

I'm curious as to why the developer made it resemble GB even though it is v4.0.3? Does look like a fast rom though but ugly.

I' am sad to say the 4.2 will be the last version made by me, sadly after that i will be selling my device, im so sry, but i will be looking for a dev to complete the project, i will be moving on to the real thing, i have bought the sgs3, i dont want to be the dev the bought another device and left his projects from his old device, but it will be hard keeping tracks of all my work, and updating, etc., i hope you guys can understand, if any dev is interested in taking over this project please send me a pm, and as for the 4.2 update, everything will go on as planned, cheers =)

Bottom line... it is a dead ROM.

Does the FM Radio work ?

Does MPT work ?

Can the default video player play MKV with Subtitles ?

Sigh... I looked it up... and the version is up to 13.05 now... but the project was killed in May of this year (seriously outdated)

The damn DEV (its always the dev) !!!

This ROM, by Paradoxx, was based on the work of another coder... named Netchip... who worked on the work of TeamHackSung (the guys who dev AOKP )

There are many more things I could say to slander Paradoxxx further but I am writing this on behalf of Netchip and wish not to provoke the situation further. With that said, this ROM will probably die in the near future and I have already found a new home as I think you all should do too.

Gilly thanks for the info... I saw it when I was researching the ROM... but can I tell you.. I am using the Salman ROM v4 with the latest Siyah Kernal and trust me... it's Rock Solid... I am yet to experience any bugs so far. It's still early days but so far so good. Really fast , stable and solid. Note though I got numerous FC's when I tried to make a phone call when I flashed the ROM initially...but after flashing the latest Siyah kernel on it, it's been running like a sweet dream. I will keep you posted as the days go by. The Best ROM I have discovered to date is Pure ICS v7.6 by Spike_M. That ROM is the Boss.... but I am now bored and want something fresh, hence me trying out Salman ROM.

Ok here's my latest update, the Salman ROM is killing me with FCs now even with the Siyah Kernel... frankly I can't bother to be flashing kernels looking for compatibility. I'm gonna scrap this ROM and give this ROM a try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1773669

ive installed it on two i777 and its a damn good rom..its not pure ICS, it does have a few touchwiz elements in it, but its quick and gives great battery life..

if you really dont favor touchwiz you can use another launcher
