My HTC Inspire 4G :-)

well, welcome yours truly as the latest member of the TechJa android family

well i went ahead and got an inspire 4g off ebay..scored it for $255USD and i finally got it in my hands yesterday after a 3 week wait. i asked a friend to bring it in for me, so i dodged those nazi's at customs

here are a few pictures..i havnt hooked it up yet but im planning to go with LIME and take out their 3g mobile data plan.









feel free to ask any questions..ill add some of my early observations as i go along..

forgive me as i dont know what a bootloader is at the moment..but if youre asking if the phone can be rooted, yes it can..

and yes my phone was used, only sign of use is a light scratch less than a centimeter long on the screen that you cant even see unless youre looking for it.. and some scuffs by the battery door because its so hard to come off

been reading up on rooting and custom roms and stuff..

rooting seems like such a major task right now -_-..there is just sooo much to do lol

its a bit overwhelming to be honest

Check the first two options of page 1 on this thread those two apps make rooting as simple as one-click...

What has your experience been with regards to the battery life?

its pretty bad..it lasted me about 10 hours before i got the battery low warning jus from messing around and downloading stuff over wifi..granted i played games during this time, also watched some youtube videos..but im thinking, when i do hook it up with voice and data service..what am i to expect?

its a known issue with this phone, and actually last night i decided to do some reading on xda and it seems HTC is making a higher capacity battery for the phone..so we will see..

i might just buy a higher capacity battery off ebay..they're pretty cheap..

it looks like rooting + using a custom ROM will also help the battery life..i think wishlist is running a custom rom on his inspire + one of those ebay extended batteries and is getting around 20 hours..which is pretty decent

Custom roms tend to improve battery life very well especially seeing that the kernels are less intensive on the cpu and you can set the cpu profiles a lot easier..
