Good Move... This tired old OS should have been buried long time.

Nokia is so confused that they are using iPhone 4s in their ads.

I still believe Symbian could have survived if it wasn't for the fact Nokia is hella lazy in the developers department for the Os and the Super Long Delays in Os Update which even had information leaked out over several months.....
Should have been Belle by now if it hadn't been for nokia failure in the developers section .. and it still not even Anna ... lol
Still keep my N8 Though , it still a good camera

Nokia will not retire the symbian os, it will continue to be on mid end devices, however the primary OS will be Windows starting with Windows 7 mobile. i have seen a few of the handset being developed and great things are to come with this merger. One of my fav feature on my N8 and E7 is the nokia maps it works excellent in Jamaica with the free voice and all. I have been lost a few times and all my friends did is share there location and my N8 direct me to there exact location.
mess with the best die like the rest

I think its a good move since the Windows 7 Mobile OS might be more stable and richer on the Nokia than the current Symbian OS. I have a Nokia n97 and every day I find a new problem so hopefully the Windows 7 Mobile will fix this and bring back Nokia on the map of competing smartphones.

I dont agree I think the symbian OS should replace the S40 OS thus bringing smartphones into the hands of the masses.

Promote all the smartphone features and the TINY number of apps remaining and empower low and middle end segment of the market.

Then they should create a BRAND NEW high end OS to rival ios and android.

I mean to me it is unacceptable that a 3650 OS looks almost identical to a N95 and to a N8.

I also think Nokia's windows 7 idea sucks it would be better if they went to android.

Nokia is going to come back on top in a big way I think Nokia always comes back.

I am a Nokia fan I dont think there is a better mobile phone maker. Symbian I also like but it needs improvement this afterall is 2012.

I remember when Sony Ericsson gave Nokia a run for their money and Nokia responded with beasts like the N95 and came back on top.

So I believe the same will hold true this time around. Also Elop must go.

Nokia must also be in touch with the development world. That is they need to seek audience with developers in a large way and take their feedback for any new OS being developed. Right now app developers have shunned symbian and are mainly focused on android and ios. Nokia needs to get techies and developers engaged.

I am wishing Nokia the very best.
