the MAIN reason y i wud want to migrate is CAREER issues .... to make a better life for my self...... as in JA employers out here dont recognize or value certs...... yet they want u to have it........ another thing is the friend link... not what u know... but who u kno...its just ruff out here....point blank.....
But there is also the issue of entrepreneurship. I don't think that anyone would argue that creating the type of Silicon Valley startup that actually keeps wealth in Jamaica is nigh impossible. The banking culture, combined with the uncompetitive cost of bringing in equipment and utilities makes Jamaican entrepreneurship an exercise in frustration.

Yes, there is work for people without links, but Jamaica is plagued with a management culture (especially HR) who only go to school for the piece of paper, and thus see you as the same. So how can you expect managers to understand your techniques, when they don't even understand their's?

    <sarcasm>Well, there's always call centers</sarcasm>

well on that I can say with certainty and from experience that its not always banking, government (import export equip) that stop, limit or kill entrepreneurship...its the the would be entrepreneurship themselves. There is this running joke that a black man cant run a business like the Mr, Chin shop you see on every corner (which are usually Koreans by the way not Chinese) why...cause them think that any money that come into them business as soon as it open them should pocket it. Add that statistic that most business fail within the first 2years ( or year I forget) and entrepreneurship ends before you can justify the thought of even doing it int he first place.

So its a double edged sword........
We are educated to work for people. Why not try to turn your skill into money. A lot of persons go to college and then thinks the world owes them a job. I have a MBA or CCNA so give me your company or network to run. It does not always work that way.
