Back to square one....., back off the ground now........
best option is to go with this computer and get this extra Stick of memory - in the long run it will cost you only $451, which cost less than alot of the other laptops there
The one vylle posted is out of stock, but this isnt >>>http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834157823
will she realistically need more than 2gb of ram?

more than she will need an i3 processor i assure you..
you will notice a significant dip in performance expecially when your browsing and have multiple tabs open and/or if you have office multiple documents open and msn messenger open and other apps (like winamp) simultaneously TRUST ME - u see the difference between two and four gigs of memory.. additionally, in many cases, the consuming processes by default run on startup like msn messenger, limewire and other apps and most chicks dont know how to disable "run on startup" so its best you get a laptop with more memory
at any rate - u can still get both danthony.. i still recommend getting an i3 and then bumping up the memory

If you are gonna get a HP, just stay away from the Pavillions?

Wow really? Im surprised at that because my gf has an athlon II x2 wit 2gigs memory and i comfortably run WMP, messenger, xfire, chrome and league of legends all at once quite comfortably. I know the more memory the better but i guess each person's experience is different.
I always do maintenance to make sure her pc is working optimally still, teach her a few things too so she can do some of it herself.
lol...same thing with the DV's that use amd processors. or so i heard...those ones give tons of probs
