    Default Self-Fix 360

    Has anyone actually fixed a Xbox 360 that had the RROD by themselves? looking to fix one myself...any tips?

    There are alot of different problems that could have caused it though. So without knowing what caused it it's hard to fix it.

    i think it is more dan likely a heating problem

    Yes RROD is mainly caused by overheating in Xbox 360, the thermal paste dries out from the processor that's below the heat sync, it is better if u buy a Jasper or a slim though I don't know if the slim has the RROD. if you do manage to fix it, the problem will return in just a matter of time, to me it's a temporary fix

    You can fix it on your own, get some arctic silver in place of thermal paste. take of the clamp that holds down the X-clamps, dont allow the screws to make contact with the mother board. you will need nylon washers or similar to use and also some screws to replace what was on the existng X-Clamp.

    just google it...its pretty simple.... and in doing it the xbox itself will tell you what is wrong with it.

    Well im trying to fix mine myself and it is difficult to me. I managed to pull it apart without breaking anything and now instead of three red lights i am getting two. Can anyone help?

    Well no thanks to yall i figured out what that was all about. So i will post this for newbies tryin to fix theirs... Mine was as a result of the screws being too loose as soon as i get the washers and screws needed i will post up some detailed pix if my "fix" is successful
