I'm like 2 COD games in backlog but they are what they are, at least they are able to make a decent wii port of the game.
Check out My Awesome Blog & News Jamaica
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/30/call-of-duty-elite/Hours ahead of the agreed-upon embargo for the news, the Wall Street Journal is the first to report on Call of Duty Elite, the long-reported "digital platform" in development at Activision's new Beachhead studio. Designed to complement this fall's Modern Warfare 3, Elite will be a paid service though "portions of the service will be free" including a Facebook-inspired Groups feature.
Other features of the service include the Bungie Pro-like ability to display stats to analyze player performance, "gauging factors such as which weapons have been most successful for them in killing enemies." If you're worried that you'll suddenly have to pay for online multiplayer in Call of Duty titles, don't be. The Journal reports that "players will still be able to compete against each other online without subscribing to the service."
Activision hasn't yet pinned down a price point, though it does expect the cost to be less than comparable "online-entertainment services" like the $8/month Netflix. Part of that fee will go towards a "customer-service operation that will be needed to support it." It will also include the year's map packs, which cost $15 each, taking some of the sting out of any annual charge.
I'll pass on this service
EDIT: More info on the service.

Yea i definitely wont be paying for this service. I'll go as far as purchasing the game, but paying extra for something that is unnecessary... No thx.
I dont think this is a fair statement to make, this is because console gamers are what are really pushing game developers to become creative with games. Look at the wide variety of games which have become popular thanks to the console market, and then eventually ported to PC. Its not because console gamers like to waste their money on crap, but because they are more willing to spend money on a product than PC gamers who are saturated with pirates. You will also find that DLC is sometimes worth the cost as well and really and truly are just the same thing that an expansion pack is in the pc world (see: all the sims expansion packs, starcraft brood wars, Need for Speed expansion packs, all the various WoW expansion packs, and actually all the MMO expansion packs), the only difference is, one you can purchase at a store and the other is only available via download.
And as I speak about MMO's please also remember that MMO's (which are mainly played on PC) do the same thing which is have players spend lots of dollars on "crap" as can be seen here. WoW alone gathered $500 million in 2008 and thats just one mmo.

http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/0...ite-reactions/“Call of Duty Elite represents the next big step in finding a way to gouge more money out of gamers’ wallets,” Philip Hansen, who runs gaming website Evil Avatar, said in an e-mail to Wired.com.
Jesse VanLuven, a 36-year-old gamer, called the upcoming service “insulting.”
“We put up with raised game prices, pay subscription fees on Xbox Live and have to pay more than we should for [downloadable content],” VanLuven said by e-mail. “And yet here is Activision adding a new fee, just because they think they can get more money out of gamers, not to bring something new to us.”

Seeing Hollywood's big wigs playing CoD on a web series definitely don't interest me, but acting out gaps in the storyline that connect one game from another might peek a little interest. Not enough to warrant me paying for it thought
