The problem causes users to receive a "disc unreadable" or "disc unsupported" error after inserting a disc into the console. According to Microsoft, it is caused by "a change in the disc reading algorithms in a recent software update and is not specific to older or newer versions of Xbox 360." Those suffering from the error should contact Microsoft through www.xbox.com/support/contact so the company can verify if the console has been impacted via Xbox Live. If the problem is confirmed, owners of ailing 360s will receive complimentary new units

wow its a good thing i dont get any newly released games yet cause this would probably catch me... i guess ill take it easy and watch them for a while

I did the update from the new Mortal Kombat 9 disc and it's a never-ending headache to get it and the newer games to work. I thought the lens was going.

hmm, I don't have this problem. What I do have however is the open tray error, which is even more annoying.

And nevin, it would be good to wait but you can't play on xbox live without updating to the latest version so that's not an option for alot of people, myself included.
