View Full Version : Problem w/ Copy/Paste in Word 2007

Client has an issue.

Sometimes when she is creating documents Copy and Paste fails. The problem seems to be strictly a failure when pasting to or within Word 2007.

- Copying from external sources (email, other documents, browser pages) is no problem. This was tested by trying to copy to Notepad. Notepad Success.

- Pasting in Word is an intermittent failure, it's not constant and there is no rhyme or reason to the failures. It can fail even when copying from one part to another of a Word doc.

The machine is an HP DV6 2150. The keyboard takes a fair bit of pounding but she doesn't use shortcut keys (ctrl c, ctrl v, ctr x etc) to do her copy paste.
Machine has 4gb of memory and hard drive has much space to spare.
OS: win 7 home premium
AV: Norton 360
SuperAntiSpyware is also loaded.

A repair was done on the Office Install but since then the error has recurred.

The clipboard looks fine when i check it, it's empty and when I try to copy and paste, it works fine. Hence the intermittent.

Did u install the current updates available for office?

sounds like a registry error to me.....maybe a full uninstall would be best.........

Try installing the updates, if that fails then i would have to agree with flexx its a registry error so u would have to fully uninstall then reinstall, would suggest u uninstall with some un-installation tool such as revo uninstaller

This is what I would suggest too. It's quicker than wasting a lot of time troubleshooting the program.

I hope its not a trial version of Office...cuz usually these features wont work if the trial expires....

Have you tried running Revo Uninstaller...remove all that is part of the file....with the program? And then install a fresh copy?

Hmmm....have you tried copy and pasting in Safe Mode? I dont know what else to say.

Check for Word macros that may be intercepting the mouse clicks.

Well, I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling. It seems to have worked, no complaints so far. Thanks for the feedback gents.
