I want some opinions as to where u guys would recommend doing certs. I know about Software training centre already, I want more options. These facilities should be in Kgn and offer these 3 A+ , N+ and CCNA.

There is New Horizons as well.

if you go to the prometric and vue sites. You will see what centers are available.

The training centres are:

- Software Training Centre - (876) 926-4073/77
- New Horizons - (876) 926-1704
- Train-X - (876) 906-5008 /9
- iSecurity - (876) 926-6587
- Technisoft
- HEART/NTA

Well, that's what I have for now. Now since you want to do the A+ and N+, I would recommend STC because of the cost. For your CCNA, if you can apply to NTA then that would be an excellent choice. However you must keep in mind the timeframe to complete that course at HEART/NTA, I think its around 9 months.

iSecurity on the other hand, will offer Cisco courses leading up to the CCNA and beyond. The time to complete one of these course can be anywhere from 1 week to 2.

i am doing technisoft's ccna course now, and i have done their a+ and net+ as well as server+. i would recommend them. they are very competitively priced, and the tutoring is almost one on one because of small classrooms.

Technisoft - personaly i wouldn't recommend cuz they wanna charge 25k just to learn how to install and configured window 2000.

anyway once u ave adsl or some kind of broadband, learning is free, u don't ave to since in a class room...

i am doing ccna, mcse and i am just reading up online do some free online test, then i will go out and do the real exams which cost at least $US160....

U can try that methond or go 2 skool

Hey I'd like to know how many of u guys actually did CCNA & passed the 1st time u tried. Did all of u guys do classes or did u buy the books and do the exam? Has anybody gone further to do CCNP, or is CCNA just enough to get u through the door?

Heart's CCNA course is online based. Infact, all IT courses offered by Heart are online based. It's not that bad though...

I'm considering returning to Jamaica and setting up a training facility in Kingston. What kind of demands is there for Cisco CCNA, CCNP and Microsoft MCSA, MCSE certifications.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Give Thanks,

Demand is here as long as the price is right. What u could do is offer these courses as a package, have a good facility in a prime location and u will be in a great position to offer some good service.

dav_john, If i were you , iwould think carefully before i set up a trainning facility especially in Kingston. Personally, i think the market is saturated and this is one of the reasons why Technisoft was forced to close down. I think there is a market emerging in western jamaica, however I do no think persons aer willling to pay the "legitimate" prices for trainning. A regular Microsoft course is $US 1,750 now not alot of ppl can afford this, but some persons who can afford are bent on short cuts to certification. I would suggest, freelancing as a trainer, far less headache and the pay can be good.

Only 5 exams are needed for MCSD

What I am wondering is if the exams alone can be taken.
Am I correct about Software Training Center doing the testing in Jamaica.
And is MCSD only five exams?
