Backstory: had this Hanns G lcd for 4 or 5 years now, served me faithfully for work and play. Couple days ago, load shedding happens in the area and then we lose power for a couple of days.
When power returns and i boot up my pc, the lower 3rd of the screen is white, dead pixels. Very upsetting, but we proceed. i start looking around for replacement options. in the meantime, i migrate my taskbar from the bottom of the screen to the top and start working within the 66% of screen i have left.
Tonight, about 48 hours after first bootup, something odd is happening. The pixels in the lower 3rd of the monitor are fading in and out. They fade to the white of dead pixels, then return to the regular pitch of the screen. when i run my mouse into the dead pixel area, the display is not responsive and the mouse seems to appear and disappear.
Does anyone have a clue whats goin on here? is there hope for my monitor?
also, is there any tool or diagnostic i can run? and has anyone else ever heard of anything like this? i google and come up with nothing.
FYI - the UPS and everything computer related was unplugged for the duration of the power outtage.
