From what I understand, the last LAN party started late because a number of things were not in place. This thread is dedicated to all of the little things that we will need to get off to a smooth & timely start the next time around. I will obviously not know everything, so I am asking the lot of you to post any additional items that I may have left off, or to indicate ones that don't belong.

The idea is to have a thread of checklisted items that we can always refer back to whenever LAN parties are coming up. Hopefully we will have a comprehensive enough of a list that we can sticky this thread for furture reference. Here goes my partial list:

Games

- Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2
- Half Life: Counterstrike
- Quake 3 Arena
- Starcraft w. Broodwar Expansion
- Unreal Tournament (Game of the Year Edition, 2002)
- Unreal Tournament 2003

Other games that could be considered:

- FIFA 2003
- Jedi Knight II
- ...please suggest more

Application Tools

- Direct X 9 (in case later games are added to the foray)
- Nero Burning ROM or Easy CD Creator
- CloneCD (See above)
- DiscJuggler (See above)
- MS Word / Excel / Outlook (Keeping Scores, Collecting Personal Info, e-mail contacts, etc.)
- Operating Systems (be prepared for anything)
- Norton Systemworks 200x (be prepared for anything)
- Boot diskettes for Win98 or ME.
- Bring CD-RWs will all your machine drivers burned to it. Someone else might need a hand.

Hardware

- The typical PC components (CPU, keyboard, mouse)
- Printer should be available at venue
- Scanner should be available at venue
- Lots of CAT-5 100mb UTP
- Additional Hubs, for dynamic expandability. Dunno if you folks might bring your own in case there are more people than the network can facilitate. I assume the network is using DHCP.
- Crimping tools
- Lots of RJ45 ends
- Spare NICs maybe...
- Power Cables (?)
- Whiteboard w. dry eraseable markers

...and most importantly:

- Truckloads of CD-Rs (or additional hard drives) for very obvious reasons ;D

Gadgets

- Digital Camera(s). For creating our event photo albums.
- Camcorder(s) (if you folks own one. That'd be even better)
- PDAs (for info exchange, where Outlook is unavailable)

Catering

- Should be arranged at least 3 days in advance allowing for rescheduling if necessary
- Do they have Pizzahut in St. Ann?
- or are you guys strictly KFC fanatics?
- Lots of water / other beverages

And one more thing

Decide on all the goodies that we may need to xchange so that we can:

- Bring 'em
- Share 'em
- Burn 'em

But neither mention details of any of them nor share your intentions to do so on this site. ;) Ofcourse, I'm referring to the full "demo" versions of anything you sharing.... 8)

If you have any additional ideas of items that should be included in our checklist (which I'm sure you do), please post 'em.
