Is it necessary to have both PS3 and XBOX 360 at your game shop/centre? can't u just have 1, say the PS3?.....I'm asking because both systems have the same games now being released and gameplay are also look very much alike

If you are gonna choose 1, you are looking into exclusives. Also, LIVE is not free so to let gamers play online at the shop its gonna cost.

For exclusives just look what you really want in the shop if you must choose one.

How did you come to such a conclusion? You are aware that some people go to these areas to play single player games like God Of War right? And even so even some of the multiplayer titles like Gears or Killzone are console exclusive there are several titles that one may want to play that is only on one console with Sony losing the rights to some of their old titles like Final Fantasy, Tekken, MGS etc.... one is now finding them self playing the box for their preferred Sony titles and of course with things like "Heavenly Sword", "Heavy Rain" rain and other PS3 is still releasing titles that one can only play on the PS3.

My initial statement was too in-general.....what i should have said is that 'the major or top games released by the different manufacturers are usually released on both platforms', and from what i can recall from visiting a few gaming outlet, the top games are the ones being offered/played

ya but then as Anubis said, some man want to go into the game shops and play exclusive games like Gran Turismo or God of War and Halo or Gears of War. And then like I said, two diff controllers, I really wouldn't pay $20 to play any game for an hour on a xbox controller, I dislike those buttons that much. So if you really want business you have to try cater to every man's needs and not just what you as a store owner think is mainstream.

This is Jamaica if it wasn't making them money it would have been gone long ago, if you pay close attention there are usually more 360s and PS3 than Wii you may only see one or two Wii systems but several 360 and PS3 usually more 360 seeing that its popular and at the time the price of a PS3 could get you two 360s.

How so? You think if people constantly asked to play Wii titles you wouldn't see several Wiis in these shops? They don't ask to play the Wii the Wii is in the minority and thus they place less concetration on the Wii games I see people tend to live in are "Smash Bros" & "Guitar Hero" whenever I see a Wii on its almost always one of those two games and with the Wiis ability to make 4 people play Smash so thats two Wiis and and thus 8 people playing Smash thats more than enough for the minority. Now the serious gamers want their Gears Of Wars, Halo, they want their Tekken, Soul Calibur, Naruto, they want their Most Wanted, Carbon, Undercover, they are not playing it cheap they are playing it smart you give the consumers want.

If 5 people come and ask for "Heavy Rain" (GREAT PS3 Title) and 20 come and ask for "God Of War" which one you think the game shop person is more likely to get?

@anubis....a few years ago i loan my ps2 to a friend who ran a game shop. on the weekends i usually go by to hang-out, play some games and ofcourse, collect my likkle smalls and at no point have we ever been approached and ask for a specific game. they usually play what we had and were more than happy with it (well we usually have the latest anyways) i'm not trying to disagree with u but my point in saying all of this is that we as the operators always tend to buy the games we like and those we think the consumers would also like. so i got ur point, but we usually provide what we think is best for the consumers and i'm sure it's the same with alot of other businesses that has nothing to do with gaming

Where was this located MrPaul? There were several gaming houses as I would like to call them in the Half Way Tree at one point in time and the one that was most dominant was the one that had the most games to offer "The Zone" if memory serves me correctly they offered PS2, Xbox and I think the Cube at the time there were more PS2s than Xbox and Cube at that point in time because the only selling factor for Xbox was that it had Halo and of course Halo was bomb rushed but at that time Smash Brothers was the only real selling point for the Cube.

If you wanted your gaming house to survive you had better have what "The Zone" had because the first thing people ask is if you have "X" title or you have "Y" title and if you don't have any of those they left and went back to "The Zone" or if you were lucky they didn't know about "The Zone" so they may not have been picky about it, what other gaming houses had to do houses like "Area51" is offer better rates for the games or little packages like pay "X" get the whole day free that is what they had to do to keep up with "The Zone" because title wise they were completely dominant.

I think they were also one of the few gaming house if not the only that use to offer single player titles so a person would just hold on to a system and play titles like Devil May Cry, Onimusha etc... for as long as they had the money to spend, at times people would ask if they are not planning to get certain titles and depending on the level of request such a title would be sought out, there was even a little section where people use to play "Magic: The Gathering" the Trading Card game. So it was basically that you either had people who were easily pleased or didn't know that there was better out there for them to access or it could just have been that as you stated you always had the latest titles.

we were located in linstead, it wasn't anything big, we had about 4 ps2 and about 3 box, but when ppl came to play, they would just jump on any system that was not been used....so maybe it's because of our small operation why we didnt have ppl coming up requesting titles, better yet, maybe they just never knew any better...lol what happened to 'the zone', did they went out of business? i know 'area' is still in operation

Yeah "The Zone" closed down sometime back I heard that it was possibly due to the New Kingston renting being too expensive and then "Area51" was no longer in their shadow and they took the lead in the gaming house there was also "Red Alert" which closed recently I think they lasted longer that "The Zone" but "Red Alert" was heavily PC gaming oriented they had several computers networked together thats where the heavy PC shooters usually went to play "Unreal Tournament", "Quake Arena" and the infamous "Counter Strike" eventually they took on a system or two but it was literally a system or two on one or two televisions I'm not sure never use to game there but they had stucked to their PC gaming roots. That Linstead thing is a pretty good niche you guys should keep it up perhaps locate in an area that experience more traffic a wise move may be to locate somewhere that schoolers have to pass to get to school and or home.

The Zone in New Kingston Shopping center? Is how long now that close down cause I remember them days we go there coming from school to run some Unreal Tournament and FIFA 2001 on their PCs. They only had one or 2 TVs for use with a dreamcast and a PS2, so I think with their 20 or so PCs hooked up over LAN they were also focused on PC gaming

:Ooo I was never aware of them having so much PCs I knew people who use to go their to play console games mainly the PS2 at that point in time but the way you are describing it it seems very much similar to "Red Alert" that was located or perhaps is still located in the complex close to "Campion High School" and above "Baskin Robins".
