hi a friend of mine has an iphone. All the icons at the bottom of phone is not working (eg. phone key) no matter what appl. he opens. What could be the problem? every icon above that works ok.

restore home screen settings if that don't work try a new firmware

Did he install something before this happened? A jail broken app maybe?

no he didnt install any software. Dont see any factory reset option. Even if one is there i dont know how to get to it. Hopefully if it is in an application it wont be at the bottom of screen because if it is we wont get a response from it when pressed

Not working as in unclickable? If its the original iphone 2g its a touch screen/screen sensativity issue. Its fixable.

if you touch the icons at the bottom it wont respond

how do you restore home screen settings?

Settings->General-> scroll down to exact bottom RESET->Reset Home screen Layout.

Try that an give us an update.

tried that. after selecting reset it comes up with screen to input code, cannot put in code because 0 button is at bottom of screen and so wont respond

yep seems so will shop around for a tech to fix it. thanks for the input
