Long and short

Chances are the previous owner had the BB connect service on it ... they will have to Discontinue the service before you can use it.

Quite so....GPRS Internet? You know I keep seeing these threads where persons buy their blackberry locked and tied to the previous owner or a overseas network....People if you're gonna buy a berry please ensure that the phone is fully unlocked and the PIN is not tied to any owner or cellular provider as you're gonna waste your cash unless the previous owner can free up the device for you.

Remember at the end of the day a Blackberry is a secure business device and the PIN is the only way you can access the full blackberry services including Full IM & Web surfing independent of wifi....Please peeps check to ensure that your device is freed especially if you're gonna invest your cash in a used berry where the previous owner had
blackberry services running.

Giving a tip here adding to dwightmckie's comment.....You can check if you're phone is locked or not by

1. Go to Options on your berry
2. Then advanced Options
3. Scroll down to SIM CARD
4. Type MEPD

If network is active...it's locked.

These are simple checks we can use in order not to get trapped with a locked berry where you can't access either your Messaging Services or Emails.
