Dude, first question? Do you own a Blackberry? Anyways when you get one you will see why so many persons are addicted....Trust me if allows for true connectivity.....emails, berry messenger, standard messengers e.g. Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, AOL, Skype & ICQ....It allows you to be connected to all emails both home & office and most of all it is one of the more cheaper ways to stay connected via it's BIS & BES services.

Don't get this poll, isn't it the BIS service the main function of a BB? Who would waste $35k on a phone just to make and receive calls?

I agree...the berry sucks at browsing but is a killer messaging device....However I have been trying the new BOLT browser and I can honestly say browsing has become a much more pleasurable experience....Hv_Thugg probably you should try the BOLT on your Storm which I personally rate over Opera Mini 4.2 which is quite sluggish on the blackberry and only works well on wifi.

I 2 would like to know what's so special about blackberries compared to any other QWERTY Smartphone.
I don't understand how people say it's such a great messaging device - what exactly does that mean?
I've been using WinMo/Symbian/and the other one I can't remember, for a while now, and they do all the so called great things the BB does.
My company and personal emails sync to the device and I can install whatever instant messaging or browser application I please.
so could a BB expert please help me to understand what the hype's about

I was thinking the same thing... Blackberry + no Blackberry service = a waste of money... and Yes I do know quite a few clowns who were rolling this way not so sure about now with prepaid blackberry being available.

In this age of facebookin and instant messaging and constant communication on the go. Simply put...no other device beats a blackberry with the BIS or BES service. If your not a business type or not very social and dont get much of anything in your inbox... if you sign into a messenger and no one chats to you then a blackberry is not for you. However, for everybody else, theres nothing like it. Thats why its called "crackberry"

Well since I am the most recent Berry convert. I must say that life on the Berry has been lovely from a connectivity perspective. I am online virtually 24hrs per day and my battery life actually supports the hours online. Basically I still use my TyTN II to support my life because the Berry is still lacking in alot of areas. I mean a whole lot. I can't be productive on my Berry the way I want to. Because Apps wise its lacking support. Now when it comes the internet. Yes this is where the Berry shines. I don't have to worry about logging off like I would on my TyTN to preserve battery. I dont have to worry about missing that all important email because for some strange reason outlook failed to sync my emails via pull.... push emails is absolutely wonderful. I can be on msn all day now without worrying about battery. And the most important part of it all...It's so affordable to be online with the Berry..it dosen't drain my money....one flat rate sweet...so thats why I use a Berry (well not mine but my Hunny's) mine coming soon... Berry of choice tha BOLD....:D

This was already posted by me, but I quote it again so you can see, maybe it missed you...for me these are the lackings of the Berry, that hinders my productivity mode. But that aside its addictive to be always connected...I think thats where the crack in the Berry comes in for me...the addiction for constant connection..
The BB does not cater for Techies into Systems Administration & Networking. Are there any apps that will allow me to remotely administer end user systems on my network. What about ftp applications any available. I also need winrar and an imaging application, that must handle iso files. If any of you crackberry users can point me to such resources then I will consider giving the BB a trail run. And these are only the basic functions that I need on a daily basis it gets more complicated than this, but I will start simple. Simple tasks for a simple device.

yeah, i remember the post now ... something telling me the answers u seek are on crackberry.com :pI checked crackberry, but I am not finding anything worthwhile. I tested an app they had that would enable me to use the remote desktop connections to remotely connect to networked machines on my domains, but it was filled with too much bugs and wasn't stable at all. Not to mention the UI... it sucked...but anyways, the shortcomings aside the Berry is a great device for connectivity..
