I was sitting by the window one day and a little birdie chirped in my ear that C&W will soon be offering a IM feature on your mobile phone. The service will allow you to connect to your favorite IM tool (MSN, Yahoo, etc.) and allow you to appear online so your friends can send you an IM and you can reply as well. More details will come soon ;)

Not a bad move, not necessarily the most important thing that they need to work on, but i guess it can't hurt. T-Mobile has features like that in many of its fones. I have a Nokia 6010 that has IM as a menu option, then you choose which client, login & u'r good to go.

This calls for a big celebration, we better start taking out those PDA phones. I guess the Motorola MPx220 and Treo 650 will be really cool to use with this service from CW.

yeah I had a digicel phone that could run java apps you could download msn mobile messenger and use it. it worked fine until digicel started charging for GPRS then it got too expensive...but since you C&W people have a flat rate just search for it on ur phone there's no need to be paying C&W 1.99 per text when you can send them for free.

This system isn't using GPRS, it will use the SMS platform ;)

This should be a flat rate also, per month. Cant charge per text. Thats robbery.

fo real, per text would just cost way too much. and isn't it a security hazrd to be signed on over sms. i mean that means your username and password are stored on cwj's servers. also anyone can use your phone and send messages.

Exactly, but then again they would tell u not to save ur password etc. This just sounds like alot of problem in my opinion,

I totally agree, they need to have a flat rate. Cant charge per text message, I would end up in the poor house after my first bill.

Why are you people killing out your selves over text messaging? Right i am running Msn messenger, Icq, AIM and yahoo messengr on my phone....
***************FREE**************
For those of you who havent learnt how to use the Symbian to its fullest....please start doing so. DHTML, HTML, WAP all those are standard on symbian platforms...you jsut got to know how to configure and run the software. thats allit takes.
BTW....i own and operate a Nokia N-GAGE.
C&W is still the best provider in the nation, i have global roaming, which means i can go online FREE where gprs service is provided worldwide, check my mail and send emails etc with out any hassle from my phone or my laptop.

But this so called instant messaging feature can be had depending on the phone. The Sony Ericsson phone has an IM feature plus if your phone is java capable...you can download many different instant messenger files to use such as X-Messenger for MSN.
