I don't see the point of the 8900 curve... seriously.... it's beneath the bold 9000 and yet still sells for the same price or in some places more?! huh?! i don't get it blackberry.. seriously

Its not beneath the bold, it has its own audience.
Some women cyaa deal with the size of the Bold (women say that to me all the time LOL) but they want the benefits of the improved browser of the Bold and the improved media features as well as the looks.
The Javelin is basically a smaller Bold, but without 3g and with a 3.2mb AUTOFOCUS camera vs Bold's 2mb non autofocus. Its also "sexier" looking with the brushed aluminium vs the leather back of the bold.

Why you think so? LOL
Memba is not every network have 3g u nuh? All those networks which is the MAJORITY who still have no 3g will love the Javelin.
The Javelin also has UMA (i think thats it, lazy to look it up now) that allows you to make calls over wifi (if ur network operator supports it).
In Jamaica, if you on Digicel or CW or dont want to pay for 3g rates, the Javelin is not that far on the todem pole below the bold. Its more a slightly less than lateral movement lol.

still makes no sense that they both sell for the same or the 8900 for $20 less than the bold.... now come on... if thats d price difference why on earth would i take the 8900 over the 9000?! better camera and screen sharpness?! not enough for me..... if it's d lesser half then it should b selling for way lesser money

Chances are it costs more to make the javelin as well. You also need to realize the javelin is for the people who are superficial, who care bout looks and size over features, and you'd be surprised how many people that is. It's not for you who look at features, but for many of my female friends who love the Pearl for it's size and hate the new 8220 flip pearl and would otherwise not upgrade their phone cause the bold is too big.
Also keep in mind the bold is their flagship, and they don't want to kill it. Many persons would buy the javelin over the bold if the price difference was $100. Nuff stuff to consider indeed, but in the end there's a BB for everyone, for the superficial and the not, the business oriented, and the not.

It has been SUPER man....It feels like a whole other level of tech as the BOLD is really fast with a far better browser than the Curve, the wifi is moving and the camera takes IMPRESSIVE photos....I am yet to test the 3G as I am on Digicel's GPRS/EDGE network. Overall I would recommend a BOLD over the Curve 8320 or Javelin as the only thing the 8900 is offering over the BOLD is a 3.15 Megapixel Camera and if you're not into photos then this should not be an issue.

some ppl dont lk having such a big phone still. the better camera, higher res screen, lower price tag(in some places, strange i kno), smaller form factor make it a better choice. digicel or lime dont even hav a 3g network so i doe c wat the big deal is over the lack of 3g. yea the processor faster on the bold and so it goin b a better performer but it wont b anything too drastic. rite abt now i hav a digital camera so either way im good. i wud want the curve cuz it smaller and 3g doe really mek a diff since digicel doe hav it, and all the apps lk bbm and maps and msn messenger work fine on the edge netowrk.

But Doc, do you really think the Javelin is a better phone than the Bold? Seriously I can't see that but yet the Javelin runs at least $10 to $15k more than the Bold even though the Javelin series number is 8900 which is lower than the Bold's series number of 9000 which suggest that RIM does see the Bold as a better more sophisticated phone than the Javelin but yet the dealers think otherwise, how strange? I wonder if the 3.15 mega pixel camera on the Javelin made such a difference?

Seriously i really don't see why you guys are even comparing the two phones. they are basically the same thing. Personally, i will love to see what Phone is going come from Rim now, now that they have jump in the Same boat with all the other cell phone Designers. I remember When there was something special about each Black-Berry, One Had the Lack of Camera that catered to certain Campanies the Didn't allow cameras, Some Phones had 3G while some didnt and other were equipped with Certain feature that Made that phone unique.
Now Blackberry has been stuffing everything in there handset and the only hope they have Now is Changing the Form Factor or the Visual appeal of the Phone. Look at the Storm, the only think that was different about that Phone was the Form Factor, Rim used back the same "DAM" :p OS from all those other Black-berries Instead of build a completely touch oriented OS from Ground up.
I really want to see what Blackberry will Come with next, As the Starting post said "Blackberry Find a reserve gear", well i think this is the "Last Gear"

lol not really a convert still.... i still think Blackberry to complicated for the average Joe and where as themes n fancy looking menu's they still hav a bit of a way to go...... there settings aren't really centralized nor are they easy to understand cuz it even had me scratching my head wonder what d hell some things mean and why some simple things don't exist.
U know how long i spent trying to find the option that tells me how many contacts i have on the phone or sim... all now mi nuh find it...... things like that
it vs the iphone.... now am not the greatest iphone fan there are many ways i think they could b better but the world is not an apple world for 1 reason.... they cut back on the full potential of their products so that they can sell them as "accessories"
Iphone beat it in many aspects especially ease of use.....
but as i keep saying the new OS found on the bold and javelin hav now made it easier to use n not look like a dinosaur with a dinosaur interface - So it can live with now...
But give mi unlimited internet on any phone of my choice and i'll sell a blackberry in a heartbeat.... unlimited internet is still d only reason to have one right now... cuz put it against the e71 and even though d bold has a better screen n resolution... i'll take the e71 with an unlimited data plan anyday :eusa_danc

The 8900 is the preferred device for most users and RIM knows it, that's why they made it without 3G capabilities, because it would be too much of a competitor to the Bold and would basically rival their "flagship" phone. I have a 8900 comin tomorrow thanks to my GF :) and am looking forward to it (stepping up from a 8300). I'm alittle jealous of the Bold's 3G especially with CW testing and about to launch theirs, but time will tell if that's enough to make me go to a Bold, cause I'm typing this from my GF's Bold and typing is a TASK! If I was using my curve I woulda done LONG time.
I'll write back bout my experience with the 8900 bout Wed-Thur if mom in law don't flop mi show in bringing it down lol.

Fair review still....Frankly though they are really similar in terms of display and OS but apart from that the Bold runs a 624mhz processor, 1G internal memory and of course your beloved 3G radio that the 8900 is still lacking....All in all The BOLD is the KING and the Javelin is the Queen.
Anyways I will await your personal review for the Javelin next week by faith.

Well, its official...the 8900 is the best bb out now!
I have had the phone for 24hrs and so far I have barely touched my iphone LOL. It has all the bold has to offer minus 3G but in a smaller LIGHTER package, coupled with a GREAT cam. Below is a pic I took from about an inch away and the autofucus jus did its thing...

http://i41.tinypic.com/3346ftl.jpg
http://i42.tinypic.com/2nk5krs.jpg
(The pics were resized, but they looked just as good at full resolution)
Check the level of detail captured! I can say on that front I am thoroughly impressed, but the phone is more than just a camera. Audio wise, its about on par with the Bold though I think the bold is slightly louder with its speaker. Signal is no problem either. I have to make note of the batterylife. I have had it on with wifi rockin all day browsing and bbm-ing...I charged it last night till 12:30 and been using it hard since and its at 75% now and thats with playing music and videos as well, so without Wifi on it should easily do about a day and a half.
Should Bold users switch to it? Not necessarily. But personally, coming from a curve, the Bold was very hard to use mainly because of the keypad. The keypad on the 8900 is very similar to the curve...the keys are seperated and a breeze to type on vs the Bold where the keys are somewhat joined together leading to many mistakes (personal experience) and slow typing.
The 8900 is also very light and small...a little smaller than the 8300 curve. Some may say its a girlie phone, but its perfect for me, a nice balance of features vs size.
Anyhow, thats my 2 cents.

The high price is also to keep it on par with the bold. if its too cheap price wise, their flagship wont sell. If you can save US $100 between the bold an 8900, you'd really get the bold? You might, but not many would.

if is $100 less then yes i'd consider buying the 8900 but am not seeing it for that price difference....... am not even seeing it anywhere close to the e71 either which i believe along with a lot of others that the e71 would b a way better buy.........
which gets me back to the point that the only reason people will buy blackberry's is for unlimited net/mail plan.... and that goes for everywhere that blackberry's sell..... so why is there no price competitor with the e71?! cuz bold is getting money hungry these last days....
