I'm SICK of all these IPHONE Killers! Why isn't the iPhone dead yet?

I don't know about you but just about every touch screen phone I see that's been dubbed the iPhone killer just doesn't cut it...

Why, cuz all the iPhone needs is an FM radio and an memory slot and it'll be untouchable.

Sure it's crap out of the box (ridiculously basic), but with the HUGE application support, it becomes very powerful... App support is growing crazily and so is the iPhone's popularity.

Windows IS CRAP out the box too (period), but lets face it, it dominated the world then (since Windows 3.1 aka windows 1931 :), and it's still around now. Yeah I love Linux and Macs are nice and all, but Windows isn't dead. It may have a few holes here and there, but they've got lots of patches (service packs) to fill them up.

I still waiting to see when/if MiPhone really ago buss the iphone out ere b4 i get one...

Stop trying to kill the iPhone ppl, it's *cough*cough* as great as *cough*cough* Wind*cough*dows...

Not sure of the point of this thread but dude the iphone still short all the things it was short of from it came out back then i think the only thing added was 3g and its not even full 3g.

I agree to the point that i buy the iphone for present features and thats great for me. But because its still one of the best at what it does there will always be attempts to topple it.

Y'all remember that Apple's business aim is to always catch d innocent and non thinking mind of consumers who aren't tech savy. They make things beautiful n appealing to the eye so that it can catch dem. But when a phone has so many lacking things i find it hard to pick up hard earned dollars to buy it even if it has some innovative ideas:
Look at all these disadvantages....




iPhone (1st gen)

Main disadvantages:

* Camera has no auto focus or settings
* No video recording
* No custom ringtones allowed
* Safari browser doesn't support Flash and Java
* Really basic Bluetooth capabilities
* No Office documents editor
* No third party applications
* No 3G support (at least the US version)

Main disadvantages:

* No video calls over the 3G network
* The handset wobbles on hard even surfaces
* There are a number of messaging downers
* Camera has no auto focus, nor video recording… nor any settings at all

* Bluetooth support limited to headset use only (no A2DP or file transfers)

You ever wonder why the phones flop? The main problem with the phones are the OS, These Operating Systems are created by Hardware Manufacturers who's main strength is in Hardware.

You find that the Hardware is good but the OS is not, that's why to me the only real competitor the iPhone will get is from Windows Mobile 7 and Android based phones since the OS are created by non hardware companies whos strength are in software

Not all the challenges to the I Phone have flopped in fact there are phones with much more stable interfaces than the i phone that actually have good battery life and dont crash every minute

It's stupidness to think otherwise. Some time ago it was reported that Bill Gates was quoted as saying that 640K is enough for anybody. If you tried to give away a machine with 640K of memory today the people would use it slap yuh.

Not disputing the fact that iPhone has great features but as far as am concerned until the disadvantages hav been resolved in this phone am not buying one sorry...... Application cant make a crappy camera better nor can it -- and i can't overemphasize how many times my n95 camera come in handy........

and i find the dubbed 'iphone killers' as just that, as great competitors id buy in a heartbeat over an iPhone --- because am a tech savy person i'll think like one n make choices like one.... if am buying a phone for so much money it shouldn fall short in so many of the simple stuff.....

It's like d palm treo's going so many years with out wifi --- am not going fall into d trap of beauty, sorry.

and as far as am concerned the samsung omnia does a good job of whopping d iphone..... when d iPhone has that hardware setup and better then i'll b d first to declare it great! .... until such time i'd rather by an omnia, sorry....!!!!!

It is clear that Apple wants to keep us hooked and always wanting more, so they are not going to overload the phone with all that is available with other phone makers ( sony ericsson, nokia, motorola etc.)

Japan is way ahead of us where this is concerned and yet we are not comparing there tech stuff with whats available to us and finding faults about them.....:eusa_whis
