k guys.. I hope the admins don't mind me starting a thread just to tell y'all about the developments of this LAN party my cmpany's planning.
Here's the lo-down
Competition Games:
Counter-Strike, Unreal Tournament, and Command-and Conquer
Side Games (PC):
Day of Defeat, Starcraft
Side Games (PS2):
Dance Dance Revolution*, some fighting game*, and some other stuff
Attractions:
the one in the works so far is a 3-wall "cave" - a cave is a HUGE vid screen
Updates:
There'll be a website set up where registered players info will be shown, including whether or not they're using their own box, as well as their stats and rank for the tourney. There'll also be some cool art and freebies.
Play rules:
UT - 1 on 1 (there'll be some melee type stuff for fun)
CS - 5 man max teams
C&C - working on it
Play plan:
1 - registration via website or our offices (cost is looking like 1500 - 2000)
2 - play as much as you like during a 1 month period
3 - end of this period the top ten are taken and guaranteed a slot in the playoffs
4 - one fri/sat. is dedicated for getting the 15 available wildcard slots - play on that day is at a cost..(not sure how much but more than reg. fee)
5 - next day or next week is playoffs.. one day long marathon.. winner takes most.. other two come out with something too
Plus:
We're trying to get all participating cybercentres LEGAL copies for ALL machines..
Rewards:
We're still working on it.. but like I said.. don't be surpised if you see at least 1 brand new Alienware Area-51 box (you can oogle at it at www.alienware.com), a trip for the top 3 Unreallers and hopefully the top 1 Counter team to the US and entrance into a major tourney
All I'll say is.. GAme ON!!!! -- -- well not just yet :-[...but soon ;D
