As promised, HTC will begin shipping handsets, based on Google's Android Operating System, by the fourth quarter this year, said the company's CFO Hui-ming Cheng. The first of their Android-based handsets is expected to be the HTC Dream. The touchscreen market continues to grow at a fast rate, and this will only help HTC further in gaining more of the mobile phone marketshare. Their Windows Mobile-based Touch Diamond handset has been shipped to a significant number of network operators in many countries, so there's no reason why the first Android-based handsets shouldn't catch a number of operators attention too.
