Taken from M-R:

As promised, HTC will begin shipping handsets, based on Google's Android Operating System, by the fourth quarter this year, said the company's CFO Hui-ming Cheng. The first of their Android-based handsets is expected to be the HTC Dream. The touchscreen market continues to grow at a fast rate, and this will only help HTC further in gaining more of the mobile phone marketshare. Their Windows Mobile-based Touch Diamond handset has been shipped to a significant number of network operators in many countries, so there's no reason why the first Android-based handsets shouldn't catch a number of operators attention too.

Android is not the name of the phone by Samsung. Android is the software platform created by GOOGLE that the new Samsung phone will be based on.

Hmmmm? This is pretty good news. HTC and Google's Android sounds like a match made in heaven. I absolutely love HTC products because they are always so cutting edge and hightech. I really hope that this new Android OS will allow us that much needed alternative for Mobile Operating Systems when compared to Symbian or Windows Mobile. Seriously though we are heading into brighter times where competition is concerned and at this point only the fittest will survive in Tech and I think Google has what it takes to bring the game to another level. What do you think?
