Greetings TJ fans,

God's richest blessings for '08.
Based on my findings i can conclude the one can determine whether an iPhone has the firmware 1.1.2 or later without taking off the wrap. One can simply examine the serial number. After the first three characters there is the week number in which the iPhone was released. If the phone is week 45 or later its has the new firmware 1.1.2 ++ .

eg: SN#: X3Y472934N
This was released in week 47. Thus it has firmware 1.1.2.

Try it

Every iPhone out now bought from at&t or the apple store is 1.1.2 also, OTB 1.1.2 have been seen as early as week 42

thanx toyanucci .. well I guess we can amend the the formula to make it safer and make 4th and 5th character less than 42.
My findings, which consist of a sample of only approximately 40 iphones, suggest wk. 45.
