I also have the samsung s300, soon to be sold, I am going for the moto v300 ;D ;D ;D

I change phones regularly. I wish I could stick to one phone for atleast 2 years, but tech changes so quickly, I know a fren who had a 3310 since Digicel launched, been through many wars. It just died on him the other day. Thats pretty good still. I sold my 3310 ages ago. Or did i give it away?? ???

3310 are like priceless 1800 model cars, dem haad fi mash up 2 ;D, i had mine since digicel launched also, and still have it, but without sim and battery ;D

tell u the truth mitchie i wouldnt sell my s300 for a v300, but its what u like, when im ready to give up my s300, ill probably go for Mitac MIO 8390 or a panasonic x700 or maybe even a motorola v525 since i like flips.

but differently i like samsung so maybe the samsung E600(check that out!!) well tuff, mi might just get that soon. ;D

LMAO - What funds u talking about. I normally get my phones at bargain prices or as gifts. I remember when I got my nokia 7210, back then it costed 20 gran. I got this as a gift, but everybody instead thought I was rich. If only u guys knew how hard I had to work for that ;D ;D :-X :-X

@Makaveli y not go to the v300, its a much better phone. Has tons more features, has a camera which i am used to, better screen, newer technology. Y not upgrade??

I like the samsung e715 and 700, played around with one a day ago. Interesting though that samsung changed the menu system, it goes sideways unlike the s300 that goes vertically.

i got a 3650...

and what do I like MOST about the phone???

I can CONTROL MY MAC WITH IT from up to 33ft away!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D 8) 8)

thanks to a FREE proggy called Romeo and an $8 proggy called Veta Universal remote.

I can use the phone as my mouse.. or access system comntrol like the bright and control adjusters for my monitor! I can even eject and control dvds!!! ...toooo sweet!

I own the Nokia 6610. but i going to get a v600 since its actually pretty cheap here...approx 400 US on C&W.

I would love a Motorola E398 or Sony k700 (like the moto better)

Here is the link for the moto...now check THAT out:

http://malaysia.motorola.com/pcs/e398/my/

its does everything the v600 does and MORE. Those grills on the side.....are actual 3d surround speakers that light up the same way the circle on the v600 does....currently it's only out in Malaysia and Indonesia, supposed to be coming to North America and Europe this summer according to Moto.

PS..it even has a headphone jack that can accomodate regular headphones.

and for the k700:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/K700/index.html

If i could have afforded it i would waited for the E398 but the price of that is gonna be HIGH.....so could as well get the v600 at the lower price

yeah nokia's are the most user friendly phones on the market so that would explain most peoples love of Nokia... But when it comes to features nokia's are behind sony, sagem, siemens, fujitsu, treo and some more companies

@ skillachi, looks like ur a nokia man huh, the 6820 wikid my ute, but it little bit too big for me

@greatis, i think ur answer was, if we recommend not to spend over 17000 on a phone, well for me if i like the phone and i have the money to spend on it, ill buy it, i bought the samsung s300 for about USD$350.00 thats like $20500.00, and i bought the nokia 7600 for USD$445.00 So greatis, what about u, what kind of price ur willing to pay for a phone? :o

Its kinda big but as long as it pocketable i alright with it. What i am not sure about however is if it has a radio. If it doesnt it would be really annoying for me and i might just ask for the 7250i instead. It doesnt list it in its features but nokia has forgotten to list a radio as a feature in other fones as well... so i am wondering...
Oh well i still like the fone.

BTW Greatis nokia does have fones that come with alot of features. and i dont think sony or siemens come with more features and besides the fones for siemens etc etc that have alot of features normally cost alot of cash. Nokia has cheap fones that come with lots of features such as the 3650. which is comparable to even more expensive fones from other brands

Greatis
June 18, 2004, 05:56 PM
I could prove to you that siemens phones are more durable though... Siemens has the only waterproof phone that is sold to the general public. it is cushioned so even if it drops it is does not crack the screen and stuff like that.. it is a knock off the siemens m35 digicel were selling

Skillachi
June 18, 2004, 11:15 PM

Now that Nokia is spectacular. But i have a soft spot for flips, hence y i wantr a v300 or 600.

Whats the cost on that nokia, I wanted it but just going by the features it should cost a ton.

the 6230 woulda run you about $33,000 brand new 8) 8) 8) 8), you nuh like the panasonic x70??

its smaller, the camera has a flash, bluetooth, ringtone composer, hold more call records, photo phonebook..etc, what about panasonic cell phones??

MiTcHiE
June 19, 2004, 06:02 PM
Just never much experience with them. I had a 68 but that was crap. messed around with 87 and that was gool but the screen had some issues from time to time. The camera is crappy simply because it takes about 3 seconds to take a picture. On my nokia 3650 picture taking was basically instantaneously. Those r my quips.

cool, but if you really into features i wouldn't suggest the v300

The nokia 6230 seems really kool. That is a phone i would love to have..WHat bothers me tho i how everyone keeps saying the screen is bad. Do you all also think this is so?

Most phones now come with at least 128*160..

the 6230 is 128*128.

How big a difference would this make exactly....

PS. the v300/400/600 is 176*220..so how would the 6230's display compare...very very bad???

ja_cellman
June 19, 2004, 11:35 PM
its decent its the same as the samsung s300(interms of pixels) but is better because its a tft screen, but nokia are never known for their screens

digimar
June 19, 2004, 11:49 PM
Yea...they are just known for the most user friendly and feature rich phones on the market. Especially with all the Bluetooth phones they are releasing.

But upcoming is the moto e398 and that pretty much does everything the Nokia does except for video recording (video playback tho).......but the screen is way better 177*220 like the v series...

they cost the same on

http://www.myworldphone.com

US429..

hmmm tough choice..

they also have the v600 for $349US :o

When samsung start building all their phones with mms, cameras and a working infra red port then I will go their way. As of now 90% of samsungs can only use infra red to connect to a laptop/pc. Whats the sense in that??

makaveli
June 20, 2004, 01:16 PM
90%? nope i dont think ur right about that mitchie say 60-70% ;D, and samsung has their reasons to not make "all"; their phones equiped with mms, cameras and "working infa red ports" come to think of it ::) no phone brand makes "all" their phones with these features.

Ok u said not all their phones. But still y make a phone with half the features people want. Take for instance the s300 which u and I have. The external screen can show 256 colours, but yet it shows the time and date in black font on an orange background. whats the sense in making it capable of showing 256 colours when it never does??? Simple things like these makes me wonder if Samsung thinks before they make these phones. Whats the sense in having a phone which is capable of showing 65000 colours without mms, then how will u get pictures to it?? The connectivity is also dumb, the screen size is 128x176, but u can only upload pics that are 128x97 in size. ??? ??? Doesnt make any sense to me how they design most of their phones.

U and I know y they made this phone the way it was made, especially the infra red part and the mms.

makaveli
June 20, 2004, 01:46 PM
i dont know, but i love samsung ;D

the external screen shows more than just the black timer text, for instance when theres a new message, a miss call, incoming call and outgoing call ;D secondly how do u get pictures on it, u visit a WAP site and download. basically this phone lacks just 2 major featues "for me" the camera and mms.

samsung rulez ;D

Hmmmm..... U have a point. But I had bluetooth before and I rarely used it to connect to devices other than my pc hence I dont really need that feature. The v300 has a usb port, so that would be my method to connect to the pc.

SONY ERICSSON Z500

Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications today unveiled the Z500, a clamshell imaging phone that offers still and video capture as well as great gaming and communications features. The Z500 is the company’s first phone featuring EDGE technology, which provides fast access to wireless data, content downloads, messaging and interactive online gaming. The Z500 is also enabled with Push to talk over Cellular (PoC) that allows two-way radio style communication.
Following on the success of the market leading Sony Ericsson GC82 EDGE PC Card, Sony Ericsson’s first EDGE mobile phone, the Z500, takes advantage of the latest network enhancements to access business e-mail, fun Java games, Instant Messaging and Push-to-Talk functionality at speeds up to 240 kbps. The Z500 supports Class 10 EDGE for sending and receiving data, which will be the fastest EDGE-solution available on the market.

The Z500’s built-in VGA camera can be used for recording still images and video clips and with QuickShare™, consumers are just a few clicks away from taking, sending and sharing pictures, sounds and video, offering the unique Sony Ericsson ease-of-use experience on this innovative handset. The bright 65,536 colour display is ideal for enjoying images as well as viewing streaming video, which is made easier and faster thanks to the fast EDGE data connectivity. With the Z500 closed, its external 4,096 colour display serves as a viewfinder for capturing images or to display Picture CallerID (the name and picture of the person calling), or even read text messages without the need to open the phone.

“The Sony Ericsson Z500 is ideal for the ‘on demand’ consumer who wants fast data access, speedy connections and instant entertainment,” said Urban Gillström, President of Sony Ericsson USA. “The Z500 is feature-packed, , providing consumers the ultimate mobile experience while setting the new standard for technology and style and provides an important addition to our product portfolio for the USA.”

The Z500 adds video messaging to offer a full range of communication possibilities, such as e-mail, MMS and Instant Messaging. The Instant Messaging client is based on the Wireless Village standard, allowing chat and presence services. It also features organizer functions, which can easily be synchronized with PC to always have the most up-to date information.

Push-To-Talk is a new mobile technology standard for quick one-to-one or one-to-group communication, in a similar manner as two-way radios. The service fits an array of different situations, and is well suited for small and medium enterprises that need frequent intermediate contacts, or consumers that want to chat with friends and family. The Push-to-Talk capability in Sony Ericsson phones is delivered through cooperation with Sonim and based on the Push to talk over Cellular (PoC) standard, ensuring the interoperability and compatibility required to create substantial subscriber adoption and user-friendly services that work across networks and handsets.

With the highly entertaining 16-track MusicDJ™ application, it is fun and easy to create unique polyphonic ring tones in different musical styles such as reggae, hip hop or dance. With expressive style, a sleek clamshell design, the Sony Ericsson Z500 is also ready to be personalised; on the outside with Style-Up™ exchangeable front and back covers and on the inside with full-colour wallpapers, screensavers and ring signals.

Playing the latest 3D Java games on the Z500 is a great experience. Thet rich 65,536 colour screen, polyphonic sound, vibration feedback and well laid-out keyboard make the Z500 an ideal gaming companion. Add a Sony Ericsson Gameboard and the experience becomes all the more real.

Available in Q3 2004 in the Americas the Sony Ericsson Z500 EDGE camera phone will enable a host of fast wireless data applications for business use, but will keep life fun for its users with a rich suite of imaging and entertainment features.

digimar
June 25, 2004, 12:19 AM
Hmm, i dont think there is even gonna be a 900/1800/1900 version of the z500 considering its an EDGE phone and EDGE is virtually non-existant in Europe which uses these frequencies...In Europe they are heading towards UMTS, which would be the Sony Z1010.

Plus Sony Ericcson usually announces the 900/1800/1900 mhz version of a phone before the 850/1800/1900..they did it with the t610/616, t630/637...

Plus they dont release 850 triband versions of all their phones, look at the z200 and z600...no 850 in sight, same with the k700 whats to say the z500 wont only be 850/1800/1900 this time around.

Anyways, all i want right now is a motorola e398.

Now that is a tight phone, with features that really kick BUTT.

The thing has expandable memory (supposedly up to 1GB ;D), mp3 & video playback, an actual regular headphone jack, lights at the side that dance to the beat of the environment around u (eg. a nightclub), etc....plus all of the features of the v600 in a phone that is lighter than the v600. Only thing its not a flip, but since i accustomed to candybar phones, i couldnt care less.

June 25, 2004, 02:04 AM
Yup, the e398 is a nice phone, in terms of looks , it reminds me of a SE T610. But for me, it has to be flip.

Once you go flip you cant go back ;D

yep that cannot be said better. 8) ;D

digimar
June 25, 2004, 10:32 PM
So you all would choose the v600 over the e398 altho it has more features and is lighter, with a bigger screen jus because the v600 is a flip....would this have anything to do with the fact that you can more easily show off a flip more than a candybar?

makaveli
June 25, 2004, 10:49 PM
not really to show off digimar, but u know, some people like flips and some like candybars, im one of the flip lovers, as far as the v600 goes it has alot of cool features but although its a flip phone it does not really impress me, and i wouldnt buy it. :)

digimar
June 26, 2004, 08:20 PM
Why doesn't the v600 impress you? What other phone do you know that is a flip phone with the same great quality screen (170 x 220) no samsung thats for sure..and all the same features in one such as a decent camera, java, mms, external screen, speakerphone, mp3 ringtones, etc..

Samsung always tends to remove one of the above from their phone jus becuz...especially speakerphone..(no samsung has THAT to date)

What phone do YOU kno of with all these features in one that is the same price or is cheaper than the v600? and another v series phone does not count...

makaveli
June 26, 2004, 08:50 PM
the appearance is not my type, could have been smaller, wheh it is flipped it is not eye-catching, i like a small "flip" phone with major features such as a camera, mms, (mp3 not nessessarily) and really small like the e600 or smaller, when samsung make a flip with all the features as the v600 and alot smaller and eyecatching ill certainly go for it, as for now i think ill just go with that e600

i can get the v600 for USD$400 and the e600 for USD$340

That is be true of all SE phones. Try not to impress others with your OWN personal experiences because my K750 (with latest firmware) has been with me for one month now and it has not frozen like that and my previous K700 didn't either. Not every phone in any series is fault free. Plus, there may be varying reasons why that is happening.

the d500 is an OK phone man, nothing spectacular about it...

u sound like a fighter, but i agree nokias are the most reliable phones i know. but i dont think there is any perfect phone out there

im no fighter, i LOVE sony ericsson phones, but i HATE the unreliability of them

i used to drive suzuki... problems galore, now i drive toyota,. no problems whatsoever, its the same thing

only way id own an se is if its not my regular # in it, 5 years i have this # and i cant affiord to be left stranded, i know no phone is 'perfect' but mine is to me, i dont have to worry about it at all...

i want another phone to use mainly for calls, and se will not be my choise, mi prefer gwan bounce a likkle moto l7 or sumn like dat, much more reliable that stupid sony ericson

Me keep telling this youth him can't judge based on a few cases. Why my K700/50 never shut off like that? Many SE users have had their phones with minimal hassle. Guess you just had bad luck or maybe because I had the latest firmware I escaped. Can't write off SE as unreliable objectively unless you've had the same experiences with all or most of their releases with latest software.

I will give you that. Sony Ericsson phones do tend to be a little unreliable. Software problems arise out of nowhere and the motherboards are fragile. Their technology, vision and creativity however are exceptional. Not to mention that they make the best cameras for mobile phones. Nokia phones are sturdy, but Nokia's vision is limited to phone design....

That's true and also despite the software issues, there is always means of upgrading the firmware for free. So at least we're not stuck with the bugs.

A few forums I use are:

Mobile-review
HowardForums
Esato (def SE fansite)

But personally, I can say that when I got my K700, it came with the latest software so I didn't experience any problems. The K750 I had to upgrade. No problems. On Esato, threads are created that detail the issues related with SE firmware and when/where you can download the update. The updates usually address current issues and at times gives improvements/added features.

Most persons I admit wouldn't even know about this ability but once you do, you're good to go. To update you need a specific SE cable. Since K750 and above, the USB cable it comes with can upgrade but you need to download the SE Update Service program and you need a fast connection to do so.

P.S. I can't guarantee that NO PROBLEMS because surely persons might still be scrutinizing to the last T but nothing major I'm sure is left untouched.

And the W810 itself does not have a standard 3.5mm jack but it does have an adaptar to allow this. Some complain of it being too bulky and all but it depends on your own personal choice.

yo stop the niose and hear wha mi a say

dude u sound biased
digicel is not all u know besides the 6620 is more and is better than the 6600 for many reasons that i can list

more memory
resolution better
mp3 playback and ringtone
video recording up to 10 mins
etc
etc

in ur face

then again ill have u know the 6620 has a faster processor than the 7610

6620 =15omhz
7610= 123mhz
6600= 101mhz
