I am one of 30 system administrators for one of the largest Natural Gas Company in the US, about 12,000 employees.

I am primarily responsible for one of the five SCADA systems that we utilize. I also work with the other 29 system admins to maintain non-SCADA servers, the File & Print servers, the Domain controllers, IIS servers, Database servers etc. In all we have about 1400 servers.

If any one is interested in what a SCADA system is, I am willing to share.

Ropy, I can tell you it’s not a nice feeling. I bought a house recently and the first thing I did before going house shopping was to get a map of where the local telephone company have their CO's (Central Office) and target my house shopping to those areas. I am spoiled stinking rotten.

Yes juba, some of that is done in Jamaica as well. I've known of persons taking the availability of ADSL into consideration before moving.

What are the installation costs like?

Service activation is $50

Installation is free if you do it yourself

For telephone company tech to come and install is about $80

A lot of companies have promotions where all of the above are free.

Peeps out here have to pay US $250-450 to get Wireless Broadband or ADSL installed in there homes out here. The bad part is that you don't get to choose whether or not you get to install it yourself.
