I have a USB external cdrom drive. I don't have any drivers for the device. xp does not have the required driver. The cdrom has no markings on it so I am unable to identify what brand it is.
Has anyone encountered a problem like this? Can anyone off any suggestions as to how I can resolved this problem. Do you think it would be worth a try loading drivers from another CDROM device?

U will have to track the item by using the part number. Look on it, it should have a fcc number. Its called a fcc id. just go to google and search for it. Easy as that.

Gravyflex, WInXP is supposed to recognise it as a generic USB CDROM drive. I don't think you need any drivers for it. Try removing the USB cord from the system and plugging it into a different USB slot.
Also, check if the CD drive is set as MASTER. It will not work otherwise.

Thats what I thought too, however it searches for the diriver and then reports that it did not find the correct driver.
I will search by the fcc id...
Well let you'll know how it goes..

But doesnt it display a warning if the driver isnt digitally signed. It also gives the option to continue anyway.
