well guys i knew to this site a friend told me about it was perstaining to what i am about to ask heard that you can obtain a broad band connection from the mentioned motorola phones i have tried with the information i was given which was to set up a normal dial up connection with the following info
wapuser
wap03jm
*99#
i did that and got a blasted PPP error i think it was 734 when i playing with settings i changed my conmection from PPP SLIP UNIX it connected yes well so it looked but nothing was recieving im using XP by the way im hearing rumors about people connecting and it works bla bla but all now i cant buck smaddy that show me that for my own eyes to see that why havent really gotten c332 as yet i need to confirm that it works what was i doing wrong
And one more thing how come CW and digicel has the same phone at differnt prices i had an idea that if i bought t cheaper at CW and have the network lock removed i can use my digicel SIM card in it but im told that not possbile because they at different frequency he said it not tri band but is not dual band im not sure could the lock be removed ????
thanks guys im learning alot wish i found this site sooner ;)

okay "dark_kammealeon" the unlocking thing is true. but here a question then a possible solution.
do you already have a digicel, cause if you do you could just buy the c & w c332 cause the service is better most of the time with the cable and wirless gprs sometimes digicel's get so slow that you can't even load a webpage :-\,. no as to configuring it manually by just creating a dialup connection your gonna need either a software "easy way", or your gonna need a modem string/command "geek way".
with the software all you need to provide is teh digicel apn "web.digiceljamaica.com" and it will do the extra modem initialization commands for you.
while with the modem string you do the initialization commands for you self.
i think i read from a post by prodmaster that digicel has now figured out this thing long after we had, "slow customer care as usual", so maybe you can call them and they'll guide you as to what to do, also there gonna be selling the usb cable along wit a software that will setup the phone on you machine for you
reffer to this thread for more info.

hope it'll help you out man.

All i can say is seeing is believing. Matter of fact when it a run after 10 months i may think about it. But Motorola need to go back to the drawing board. excellent phone with great capabilities but durability is minimum to nil

i think is only c&w selling these phones now...but its best if u get a digicel tho...
i got mine off the streets....saw a person with one (a digicel),asked if they were willing to sell or trade.....bought it for $1500.
the usb cable sell at royal in the pavillion or whats new in tropical plaza for about 5 bills.

No, you can't get broadband capabilities from a gprs phone (eg moto c332/333). The only service that would remotely offer anything close would be miphone's 1xRtt cdma technology.

@ Aldayne. I can't agree with you. I do think you can get broadband capabilities from the cellphones. It is possible to connect with the phone at speeds of up to 115Kbps, which is broadband. It's just that here in jamaica, we have not reach that level as yet.

I have been using gprs for months now, as a matter of fact i've been using it before digicel started charging. the connection is not capable of broadband. the phone itself can actually only allow a connection up to 14400 Bps, then you have to consider other connection interferences. (network trouble, weather, distance...) the connection does show 115 kbps when its connected, but thats not the speed, if you pull up the connection status and look at the increments in which it is recieving each byte you'll see that most times (when running good) it will go at 5 kbps... as a matter of fact, if you make the connection as a normal dial up connection then go into control panel>network connections> and pull up the connection properties then click on configure right below where you have the name of the modem thats being used, you'll see an option to select the maximum speed, the highest speed thats listed there is 921600 bps, and if you choose that speed, then thats the speed thats gonna be shown when you connect using the connection, and also in the connection status. I really don't think these phones can support broadband, I do believe there are others, but if these could do it, then me or my friends would have found a way someway somehow.

reason being that cw and digi gprs speeds nuh guh higher than bout 10kb/s
and pls note what is mentioned above is kilobitss not kilobyes suh you gonna divide that by 8

what kind of phone are you using??? I'd like to get those speeds. i'm using the motorola c332 on digicel, I have the c&w but I don't use it, they won't put me on the package for the 39 dollar a day net

The phone not gonna work as broadband modem and it done. CDMA technology is superior to GPRS in the speed regards. We talking realistically now, not theoretically so i don't wanna hear that it is possible but... provide some evidence.

@ Anaarki, so what are u saying then, that the makers of the phone are misleading consumers. R u saying then, that the phones can't go as fast as 115Kbps. I do think so, but the reason y they haven't reached that speed is because of our providers. They don't reach dat level. I'm gonna do some research on it and post my findings.

If you find some info please share, because I really would love to get my connection going faster, but what i was trying to explain is that I don't think the speed shown in the system tray when connected is the actual speed. Because if you change the max speed in control panel, then it will just show that max speed instead when connected. I really don't know, but I have never seen it go faster than about 8 kbps.

these fones only have the gprs service.. not 3g or utma or any other broadband service. the fone's data rate goes to 40kb/s. Thats abt 5.3kb/s for download..
3g goes up to about 127kb/s
utma goes up to about 384kb/s
115kb/s is false. Its only showing how fast the computer port data rate is, not the fone. If u really wanna test the connection try this link
Test My Connection (http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/)
unless ur fone is 3g (or broadband capable), u will not obtain greater speeds. Even if it is.. fones companies out here offer no such service (tho i think myphone had introduced it.. [techies? correct me if am wrong]).
to be honest to have such fones with the service provided who would be signing up for broadband service with internet companies out here.
