I'm in the market for a 19" monitor. I've been using ViewSonics at work for the past 3 years and very impressed with them. So naturally I'm trying to find one to buy for myself.

I can't find anywhere that still sells them. Everyone one seems to sell SamSung's instead. I've checked IntComEx, Innovative and The PC Shop.

So my question is , does anyone know where I can find a ViewSonic like a A90F or E90F.

On the other hand are there any other 19" monitors that anyone might know about that any good?

IntComEx has the Samsung 955DF, anyone have or heard anything about this model or any other brands. No AOC's tho :)

Anandtech http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1612 has a review of the monitor.

Oh yeah , I've done a lot of research, including reading that review, on the Samsung 955DF but I get mixed result, Some ppl seem to have alot of trouble with it while others give glowing reviews. Wanted some local opinions on it.

I use the Samsung 955DF at home and it works well enough for me. I found I couldn't run it at the recommended setting of 1284 by 1024 (75 MHz) because the text was two small, and a felt a slight strain in my eyes. The lighting at home is probably not the best so you may experience different results. I suppose I could use a larger font at this setting but then that would kind of defeat the purpose. I was using 1024 by 768 until I saw this thread and I have decided to experiment with 1152 by 864 (at 85 MHz), and so far so good.

My biggest problem with this monitor was that it defaulted to Spanish for the on-screen controls. It took me awhile to switch to english.

NOTE: I am a programmer so the display of text is most is most important to me.

who you calling a plebian you ... you... you... ::) uhhh... Mac-lover ;D

If youre going to the best of the best CRT go for Sony... keep in mind that the Dell monitors are actually Sony.
The Samsung SyncMasters are right now the best ones you can get for under $300.
Right now I have a 17" viewsonic (E70) and its pretty cool...no problems.
My next upgrade in this area will deffinately be a lcd... easier to take to my lan-parties 8) I just need to find >$500 that I don't have use for. ???

Hey Matronyx didn't we already whether or not LCD Flat panel monitors are good for gaming and the blurr you get when the action becomes fast paced (eg. Quake, Unreal, CS etc.)

Anyway, My dad has a Samsung Flat Screen 19" (Dont remeber the model name though, and I have a AOC 19" 9Glrs with a Speaker base underneath. Works well and can show up to 2048 x 1536. But its not flat panel though.

A LCD monitor with a Response Time of 16ms is what is needed for gaming without ghosting (blurring). They tend to be a bit more expensive but the are well worth it. IIYAMA has some great 16 ms displays. Samsung lcd have the best image quality I've seen but most are 25ms.
