I think someone, should start a LANparty convention. It could be like each parish have their own competition with the same set of games. And Three parish finalist from each parish go to national finals. This way all the peeps who love to brag, could should off their talents. Games like RA2, Ages of Emperor, Soldier of Fortune, Unreal Tournament, Quake and other games could be played. Call me crazy, but it with all the game freaks out there I think it could work. There could be like entry fee and prizes and stuff like that. I for one would go. Do u agree or disagree? That's my question. ;D

Why can't we setup a website or VPN link where we can dial in and play. I remember Timcorps? used to do this for a fee. We need to do this though.

:o Thats where the call for resources comes into play ::)

No resources are needed. We can just create our own srevers and have them up at different times. Some games if not all multiplayer games well allow u to create a server. We could just create servers for different games and run them in the night or whenever. These server can have a password that that only members of this forum will know. ;D

I'm not a gamer, but this LAN party thing has peaked my interest 8) . I have a vague idea of what's required, but could someone spell out to me exactly what's required. Thanks.

Ropy - as i said - resources - it not feasible to create a game server on dial up (40 cents a minute) which most of us have... I only have DIA and DSL @ work - strictly no gaming allowed... Waiting on Anbell with their DSL :( which i'm yet to get word on... :'( waiting... :o

Naw, I don't think it would work. I only have 3 plain ole machines, 4 if you count my notebook, on my LAN. :D Good thinking Verm ;D
Seriously though, I am actually looking into some more feasible options and that's why I previously asked for an idea of exactly what was required.

Actually chris, LAN parties normally apply the BYOB rule. So everyone taking place would bring their machine, software etc.

All right people, here's the situation as it now stands.
We have procured a location for the LAN party and I mean party in every sense. The site is already configured with a sound system, stage and a bar.
The located is the top floor of Dermason’s Plaza (Beside the Shell gas station in Independence City, across from West Comberland)
The event will be held this coming Saturday the 11th starting at 9AM until.
There will however, be a cover charge. We've been in negotiation with the owner of the facility and gotten a special price for this event. The cost is $500 per person, which will cover food and drinks (to an extent, it's still a good idea to carry our own spirits) and use of the facility for the whole day.
We really do not want to place a burden on anyone, especially those persons who are not directly participation (i.e. not bringing a machine and not planning on playing all day) so we're hoping that all or the majority of the costs will come form the participants so everyone else can basically come in for free (I suppose these are the people who will be bringing the drinks) so we need some commitments (and some forthcoming funds as they expect a deposit) however, if people still feel like giving to the cause to make sure it goes off well, you can come with your $50, $100 or whatever you have to subsidize the cost.
(FYI, at $500 a head, we’ll need 30 persons to satisfy our quota)
Seeing as how the event isn't free, the festivities are opened to everyone. So if you know someone who knows someone who thinks s/he has something to prove, bring them along (just mek sure dem have dem $500)
If any funds are remaining it can go towards
a) WJ good will fund
b) A charity
c) More liquor
The choice is yours.
Give me some feedback people; we're kind of short on time....
