I was recently in the US and was seriously contemplating buying a new iPAQ to replace my problematic iPAQ 3635. The 2 models that I was looking at were the 2215 and the 4155. For several reasons I was leaning towards the 2215. I had heard a rumour earlier that HP is replacing the 4155 with a new model, so when I had the chance to speak to a guy from HP recently I put this to him and he confirmed it. He said that they're changing it with a model that has a different foot-print, one that is like the current 2215. Of course I had to ask him if he would buy a new iPAQ now and he said no - he would "sit on his pocket a little while longer". Needless to say that my plans to buy a new iPAQ were immediately shelved ;) I'll wait the month or so until HP releases the new models.
In the meantime, I'll just have to reset my current iPAQ a couple of times per day and make sure that it gets a charge every few hours :-\

Have they hinted to the intended model number or series? I would love to do some research on that.

HP is targeting the 2215 at consumers, while the iPAQ 5555 targets the corporate user. The 5555 has more memory, integrated WiFi and a same biometric fingerprint scanner. However, the 2215 has a CF slot, while you must purchase a separate CF sleeve for the 5555 and earlier 3000 and 5000 series iPAQs. The 2215 cannot accept iPAQ expansion sleeves, but for many users that won't matter since the CF sleeve is probably the most necssary and popular, and you won't need it for the 2215.

I did ask, but no intended/planned model numbers were mentioned.

I did a little research and apparently the rumours out there are that HP will shortly release an iPAQ 6300 which will have bluetooth, Wi-Fi and get this ... Quad-band GSM/GPRS capabilities :o Oh yes, and WITH a camera. Ok I'm already starting to drool :P
Check out this link here (http://www.brighthand.com/article/RumorMill_Gartner_Leaks_Info_on_iPAQ_h6300) ... they even have a speculated pic ;)

I was seriously contemplating to change my hp2215 to the hp4155 but after reading this, it helped to confirm the rumours I heard about the 6000 series. Chris I am in the boat with you bro, I'll wait a while.

This iPAQ would have a 3.5 inch transflective display with 65000 colours, an integrated VGA camera, SDIO slot, a removable 1850mAH Lithium Ion battery, 64MB RAM/64MB ROM, Bluetooth, WLAN 802.11b, and Quad-band GSM/GPRS built-in. This iPAQ will apparently be roughly the same size of the H2200 series and more specifically, should be released in March 2004.

It should ne noted from the article that:
".... We feel it's essential to emphasise that the thumb keyboard is an add-on only (and is fully removable), and that the image was enlarged from it's original size. The unit is approximately the same size as a h22xx model iPAQ without the keyboard, and in our opinion this is a reasonably comfortable size for this form factor."
Thanks for the link KC :)
