Bungie announces Halo 3, the third and final game in the Halo Trilogy. Halo 3 will be released for Microsoft's Xbox 360 in 2007.

The game was revealed to the world at the Microsoft press conference at Grauman's Chinese Theater, in Hollywood, CA. By the time you read this, the announcement trailer should be available for download on bungie.net and directly to your Xbox 360, in full HD glory from Xbox Live Marketplace. Read no further if you want to avoid spoilers.


Nobody saw it coming. Halo 3! Who knew? For the last year or two, people have speculated about what our next project was and surprisingly, in all that time, not a single person guessed that it would be Halo 3. Not one.


We declare it the best kept secret ever.

Seriously though, it's been a chore biting our tongues on this one. Call it a combination of studio secrecy, corporate secrecy, Bill Gates already announcing it four times and, you know, whatever.

We won't ruin the content of our short presentation by describing it frame by frame, but we will note that everything you're seeing here is being rendered in real-time on the Xbox 360, using the current version of our Halo 3 game engine. The HDR lighting, self-shadowing, GPU-run particle system and many other effects should make it intact (and more) to our final game.

i hated Halo 2 and didn't see what all the hype was about for Halo 1

Well maybe I will be swept away by the epic story, graphics or imminent advertising campaign but i know I will be playing this one way or another.

but i still can't get over his stupid name and his one man army persona...................Master Chief...thats like super supreme or Mr Boss or King Emporer

Info on Master Chief

John is a Spartan II Super Soldier, a genetically and cybernetically augmented warrior. Extensive surgical alteration coupled with a ruthless lifelong training regimen has resulted in John being significantly stronger than even the strongest natural human, and his strength and fighting ability are further augmented by the MJOLNIR Assault Armor he wears. The MJOLNIR Assault Armor is currently the pinnacle of tactical military hardware developed by humanity. Each suit represents a resource commitment equal to that used to construct a small starship. John is 7 feet tall and weighs 1,000 pounds in full armor. He is forty-one years old.

THEM TINK SE MAN A HEEDEEYAT.. the game cant look so... i would give my left arm and right leg, for equipmemnt to play that on at max settings... dont askk how i would play without my left hand.. my left foot could be ised for my hand.. trus me.. it look HARD.. I dont think FEAR or Oblivion can look that good.. can they?
