Ok... it's not the size of the .... uhhh... rig that counts... (yeah...whatever :))... it's how you use it. If I remember correctly, the last lan-party we had, a lil kid using a slow 128MB Pentium 2 or 3 machine with a 15inch monitor was handing alotta guys with rad machines their ***** ;D

I don't consider it switiching to pentium, I just want to try something new from my other projects, I was considering buying the new athlon 64, but they are kinda expensive and there isn't that much motherboards that support them right now, so sometime next year again, wheni get bored with the new one, i will probably come back home - one thing though, mi naw go ever go back to nvidia anytime soon

;DGood choice in CPU seanbee....I'm sure you won't regret it...nice piece of setup you have laid out there. I'm utterly impressed...sad to say I won't be doing anything new to my system till who knows when.....Mi saving to buy a house early next year 8) 8)hhhhmmm.....I just have one suggestion though....it seems as if you are going all out on this system, I would recommend this speaker system from creative to really experience the true feeling of the Audigy 2 in Dolby Digital 7.1. The way creative labs intended you to experience it. http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=113&product=930 6
This Speaker System is extremely MAD.... think about it 700 watts of pure THX Certified Dolby Digital 7.1 Power...... I cant wait to see your system at the next lan party
Anyways just a sugestion

Yow cultus, dat speaker system off da hook, thanks for the suggestion.
GOOD move in saving towards a house, I am alos doing the same, and should also be buying in the year of 2004, so i will soon need to start watcing my spending. As for my choice in CPU, it is not that i prefer Intel or feel Intel is superior, I was just doing some research and the thought of overclocking to 3.6ghz stood out in my mind, I simply felt that at that speed the only AMD that could come close with be the new Opterons, and those things expensive, so for now, Intel is the choice for my new CPU

That is a nice system but you can save a lot of money by getting a PIV 2.8C instead of the 3.2 and overclock it. My 2.8C went to 3.3 with air cooling, had to bump the voltage up a bit though but my temps were steady at 48c. Also, why settle for a 4X DVD writer when the 8X are on the market. The Plextor 8X burn dvd's in 9 minutes (full disks)

I wasn't aware that 8X dvd writers are out - thanks for the info. About the processor yes a 2.8c can go about 3.3, but how much will a 3.2 overclock to, i am guessing at least 3.7ghz

It would be very hard if not impossible to get those speeds from a 3.2C with traditional cooling because it already generates so much heat. Maybe in a Promethea or VapoChill case yes or even Liquid Nitrogen. I wouldn't recommend anyone getting a new CPU right now. Intel is set to launch Prescott/Grantsdale and the introduction of Socket-775. If you are planning a major upgradde I suggest you wait because PCI Express (the sucessor to AGP 8X) will also be introduced and both Nvidia and ATI have already signed on to support this technology. By the way new graphics cards are out in a few months. Dual DDR2-400/533 SDRAM will be supported along with a few other treats.
If you really need a pc right now pick up a 2.4C or even a 2.8C and wait. The Prescott core will be introduced at two clock speeds - 3.2GHz and 3.4GHz. Keep in mind that both of these CPUs are still Socket-478 parts (found on current PIV motherboards), you won't see the first Socket-775 CPUs until Q2 2004 so you will not have to upgrade your MB right away.
