Hi,
I did not want to buy a new phone in this country as I already have a Ericsson P900 that I brought with me. However, it is still configured for the networks over there. I managed to get it switched over to English. But I do not know how to make it work with the network of this country. I am not even sure if the network here supports kaomoji or gyarumoji or any form of e-moji. I have a few questions:
Where do I go to configure my phone for this network?
Does Jamaica support any form of e-moji?

Shinreijin, a phone after my heart, SE P900 sweet! Sounds like your phone maybe network locked to the networks it was initially bought for.
Guys Emoji is Japanese, ji means character.
http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/200x/2003/04/21/Emoji.png
Emoji are characters invented by NTT DoCoMo for people to use in text messages on their cellphones. The most obvious example is the well-known “smiley face”, often encoded in ASCII as :) and called an “emoticon”. Thus, “emotion” + ji gives emoji.
kaomoji is a Japanese face mark, like (^o^) for smilling,
(-_-#) for angry. I'll post more kaomoji later on today.
Ok Shinreijin, we can phreak your phone for you. Do you mind linking up later? You phone has to be unlocked if it is lock to the network and the setting for our network configured. You would have the choice of using either of the two networks out here Cable & Wireles and Digicel. Personally I suggest you go with Digicel.

Oyasumi nasai!
Sorry for being away for so long. Negril is really exciting! I am not sure why I did not come here sooner. I will have to make this a regular end of year adventure. None of our super tsunamis are like Negril. In Japan we have artificial beaches we call super tsunamis that have sand, palm trees, sun and massive waves all made by invisible machines (except the sun ;D). I guess there is nothing like the real thing! (I have always wanted to say that in english!)
Thank you for making it clear what e-moji is. I feel a little strange when I talk about things here as people keep looking at me funny. Even on this website! I keep forgetting this is not Shiabuya district in Tokyo. I hope I not confuse anybody. Emoji is like what you call smiley. But Japanese emoji is more complicated. You can see more emoji at this website:

ig·od·it seem to know it very well. My phone uses emoji. It is really fun to use. In Japan, we do not talk much on cell phone. We just send emoji all day. There are emoji for almost everything. So we can just mix emoji to send really long message with just few pictures. Understand?
Gyarumoji is emoji for girls (like me!). Kaomoji is extended emoji that we create on phone. Sometimes it take long to make, but fun to send! Kaomoji sometimes need dot matrix screen to make. I will see if I can make some gyarumoji and show you here.
So I took my phone to my uncle here. But he say that emoji not work on this network. So it not connected yet. I think maybe next year when I come back, your network may have emoji function. Phone without emoji feel strange, so until then, I will pass :'(.
Maybe it will distract me from your pretty beach anyway. Right now I borrow a phone from him that use Digicellular or Digiphone or something like that. Is that the same as your Digicel?
Ok. More questions:
Why does other company not work in Negril? (Or seem to work sometimes?) In Japan, if phone not work sometimes, company is run out of country! They are very brave!
Are there any other phone companies?
ig·od·it - have you been to Japan?
tech·gu·ru - What is e·mo·jo? Are you making fun of me? ::)
Ok! Enough talk talk today!
matane!

No I haven't been to Japan. Always wanted to go since high school, never made it. I recently met another friend who is into Linux as well, he is on some exchange program between Jamaica and Japan. So I guess that's the closest I have gotten to Japan.
If you got luggage large enough to hold me I guess I can see it when you go back.
