Hey,
I know you can use a dual boot when you have Win ME installed and you gonna install Win XP. But I'd like to know what is the procedure when you have Win XP installed and you want to also install WinME(Not as easy as it sounds).
Thanks in advance

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 306559 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;306559#6)
To Create a Multiple-Boot System with Windows XP and MS-DOS, Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me
NOTE: You cannot install both Windows 95 and Windows 98 in a multiple-boot configuration. Windows 98 is intended as an upgrade to Windows 95 and it will try to use the same boot file.
You have to install Windows XP only after installing MS-DOS, Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me to prevent these operating systems from overwriting the Windows XP boot sector and the Windows XP startup files.
To create a multiple-boot system with Windows XP and MS-DOS, Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows Me:
1. Ensure that your hard disk is formatted with the correct file system.
2. Install the multiple operating systems into separate volumes, in the following order: MS-DOS, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, and then Windows XP.
3. Do one of the following:
* If you want a multiple-boot system with MS-DOS, Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows Me along with Windows XP, install MS-DOS, Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows Me, and then install Windows XP.
* If you want a dual-boot system with only Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows Me, install Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows Me, and then install Windows XP.
Install each operating system according to the standard installation procedure.

Ingenious, ??? He copies the WinXp help file and posts it, how could I ever have done without your help. ;)
I have currently WINXP and I cant afford to delete it, install WinME and the re-install winxp. SO I am asking if there is a way to install WinME now and get the system to see a Dual boot menu

i take it you would need to have fat16/32 on the system for ME to run....am i correct in this? i avoided ME...sorry....
i agree with the faq that ramesh posted....but lets see if their is another way...igodit should be a genie here and could prolly show up any mistakes this trial would cease to realise.
warning....create emegency boot discs.....you r on yur own!
partition off a lil peice of the disc...say 2 gig as fat32.
i think the main reason you cant do the above is because of the boot sector.
then you need to be able to boot to dos and see the fat partition. problem is, it likes a C: drive......and it must be active. so if you could setup on that partition, then your half way there.
the emergency dscs will save your life after you bugger things up good and proper... :D
then its a matter of editing the boot.ini file to project the choice of OS's.
I dont knw if this will work, its just an idea and i will prolly try it this coming week as there is a new machine im gonna do an install on. :D 8)
nothing tried, nothing learned.....my monkey logic...... :P

you will see what im seeing....its the bootsector.dos file that will become important....
and finally the method....

good luck mon ami! :D
als, if you are sucessful, then could you write out how you did it. this way we have a record of a working version of events....so write down evrything you do......if you dont mind that is..... ::)

Obtain/Purchase/Borrow a copy of Partition Magic8 It comes bundled with Boot Magic.....
Partition Magic will allow you to resize/move your existing partition to make way for another OS all you have to do is specify the type of OS, Then Let PMagic Deal with the Partitoning Rules etc....Install new OS and USe BootMagic to Do the Dual Booting.....
