Recently, I purchased an Inspiron 1100 from SPEED. The unit works well except for a few hardware flaws. The unit came with BIOS version A32 installed (this is the latest). Yesterday, I decided to downgrade due to some concerns online stating that this version is indeed 'botched'. I proceded to do the 'floppy drive' method of upgrading. I was listening to music through my portable CD player. The installer ran, reached about 50+%, before I turned my attention elsewhere. The moment I looked back at the screen, I noticed that the laptop was off. That's not supposed to happen, it's supposed to reboot.

The 'enter' key, and arrow keys do not work. I'm now totally screwed, as the machine isn't recogniseing the AC adapter. I tried using tricks like eiting the START.BAT file to include \forceit \nvram.

Someone please help me.

Shoot, the best ppl to help you now is Dell tech support. Hopefully it is still under warranty.

This is not under warranty, that expired in 2004.
Dell refuses to repair such discontinued products

Try removing the batt from the mobo...let the bios drain for a couple of days then try it again. I sincerely hope this works.
Good luck man.
