View Full Version : GPRS/USB/Apple Quandry

I'm a mac user (pcmcia-less unfortunately) looking into getting GPRS access up in the sticks (where I can't get a landline). I was wondering if anyone knew of any currently available GPRS-capable USB-equipped digicel cell phones. I could go to bluetooth, but the phones are awfully expensive and a bit of my budget. If I at least know what phones are available, I figure I can try to track down drivers for the USB cables (haven't found any yet, this seems like it will be the problem) and see if I can get myself set up. Thanks.

U have a couple of options, I know for certain my phone is compatible with macs. Its a Nokia 3650. The SE t610 is also good, both have bluetooth. I am not sure of any more that have bluetooth. My phone I dont think will support a usb cable. I think The SE phones can be used with a usb cable, and the Nokia 6***, dont remember the full name.
Check out the Connecting via gprs using digicel Thread in the network section of the forum.

k.. the quick answer to this is ANY bluetooth or USB enabled phone can be used.. HOWEVER if you want to get the most of the combo you'll look to get one that'll work with iSync...
Sure fire Apple phone combos:
- MOST ANY Sony Ericcson phone (they're actually working with Apple)
- Some Nokia phones (those that use the Symbian OS- most of the newer phones are run on Nokia modded Symbian system)
- PDA's that use SYmbian
